Sleep | 5 | Makes enemy sleep | ** | Good if you're using magic against it and it will take a while to kill it. Don't attack sleeping enemies or it will wake up. |
Muddle | 8 | Makes enemy confused | ** | It sounds good, but it's worse than it seems. It's horrible against you, though. |
Haste | 10 | Speeds ally up | *** | Good in boss fights. |
Stop | 10 | Makes enemy not be able to do anything | ** | Doesn't last long enough to be worth it. |
Bserk | 16 | Makes enemy/ally mad so it is stronger but can only attack normally. | *** | Use against weak magic using enemies or your Sabin, Cyan, Locke, etc. |
Float | 17 | Makes you float in the air so quake won't hit you. | *** | Use this to all of your party members at the same time. |
Imp | 10 | Turns enemy/ally into an imp or undoes this status | ** | Not very good unless you're an imp. |
Reflect | 22 | Reflects all magic off of effected character to its enemy | **** | Good
against magical enemies. A trick to use spells on enemies with reflect:
Use it on you and have it bounce off onto the enemy. Don't worry, it
won't bounce back to you. |
Shell | 15 | Raises magic defense | *** | Use this in fights against magic using bosses |
Vanish | 18 | Makes you/enemy invisible | **** | Use this on yourself to dodge normal attacks, use this on your enemies to make hard-to-hit spells like Doom work. |

Osmose | 1 | Drains a lot of MP out of the enemy. | ***** | This spell is VERY good to save you tinctures. Best in the Fanatics Tower. Use it on enemies that you think can use magic. |
Warp | 20 | Escape fights and dungeons | ** | There are times when this is useful. |
Quick | 99 | Lets one character go twice in turn. | **** | Use it when you can do a lot in one turn, like with Genji Glove and Offering for 16 hits a turn. However, this uses a lot of MP. |
Dispel | 25 | Gets rid of good status effects. | ** | Use it on enemies who have done this and when their status effects are making the fight difficult. |
