Whether these WebTv trick codes work for you depends on the type of box you use and the upgrade version you have. WebTv has discontinued use of some trick codes due to security reasons. The codes work as links from a page or in your Go To box, erase http:// and type in the code.
Use these upgrade/retrograde codes from your WebTv Home. Use caution these WILL start the upgrade/retrograde.

Always add the (width and height) to your images so they load faster. Try doing it this way, the images DO load faster. (img width="?" height="?" src="http://URL of your image" alt="Your Text Description") change the ( ) to < > To make a page load faster: When the green bar on the top left of your screen begins to move, press one of these (recent, options, or find) buttons. To get out of a Pop-Up box: Hit your "escape" or "back" button. The "back" button also takes you out of a "drop-down" menu.
Assigning something to an F-Key: 1). View the page you want to save to "favorites". 2). Press "save" button and choose a folder. 3).Now go to your "favorites" and click on the folder you saved the page to. 4). Once in the folder of the saved page, click on "Organize" from the sidebar. 5). Now choose "shortcuts". 6). Look at the pages saved (if any others) in that folder and click on the button to the right of the page you want assigned to an F-Key. 7). On the next page, select and click on one of the (radio) buttons F1 thru F7, then scroll down and click on "Done". You just assigned a page to an F-Key. Now you can go and assign one of my pages to one of your F-Key's. :)))
To get special characters like these (): Press your "alt" key and a letter or number key at the same time. Press and hold "alt" & "shift" keys for additional characters.
Shorten your image addy: There is no need to put the entire address to an image file. Example: (img src="http://members.tripod.com/~yourname/images/image.gif"). Just do this: (img src="images/image.gif"). change the ( ) to < > This is when working on your Homepage only. Not your email signature box! The same goes for a sound (midi, wav, ram, etc.) file. Getting to your signature box: With the new summer '99 upgrade, we have a new "Web Home" screen. It's actually easier to get there! Just click on "settings" on the main screen. When the next screen appears, click on "mail" on top of the list. Then on the next screen, click on signature. That's it!
Editing your Homepage: When you are working on your page at the homepage editor, and you don't want to scroll all the way to the top to add or fix something, simply hit your "find" key and type in title, html, body, or something else near the top, then hit your "return" button and it will take you to that spot. As for exiting when you're done, just press your "tab" button, or press the "cmd" button and the "down" arrow key at the same time. Much easier huh? Thawing a "Frozen" email/post: Here's how to catch the person thats sends you one of these. Go to your signature box and type this <xmp> at the bottom. Then go to the mail or post. When you press the "mail" or "post" and see the "green globe" spinning at the top, press your "send" button an send it away. The [genius'] address who did it to you will appear. Go get 'em! Sig. Box at Top of Email: Updated: If you want the text you write to be below your signature box stuff, just type this: (/table)(/td) immediately after the opening (html). Make a Zip-Code Appear in Email: This is how to make a zip-code magically appear in an email. Use this code anywhere between the (body) tags. (center)(b)Your Zip-Code... &tv - zipcode;(/b)(/center) change the ( ) to < > DO NOT Leave Any Spacing in this code!!! Something I discovered: Ok, this may not be a spectacular find, but, try it anyway! Press the letters O, U, and Y all at the same time and see where it takes you. Update: The above is the same as pressing your F7 key. Huh...Go figure! <hr> Bounce an Email/NG Post: When you receive an email, and there's something you want to see the HTML codes for in that email, like an image, here's how to view ALL the codes you want to see: UPDATED: Jan. 25, 2000 Since the last WebTV "upgrade", this is now the way to "bounce" an email/post. While viewing the email/post, press your "SEND" key and a pop-up will appear with a "FORWARD" button on it. Click on that "FORWARD" button. When the next page comes up, address it to yourself, go to the "Subject" line and erase whatever is in there. Now move your cursor to the body where you normally type and hit your "return" key two (2) times so the cursor drops down two (2) lines. Your cursor should now be on the (third) line. Now put in an "alt" character. This means hold down the "alt" key and press the letter "K". That's the letter I use. Next, hold down your "cmd" button and press the letter "A" to copy it. Then press "cmd" and the letter "X" to cut it out. Now go to the "Subject" line and paste it using the "cmd" button and the letter "V". Now all you have to do is hit your "Send" button and wait for the email to arrive back to you. When it arrives, open it up, and there are ALL your codes. <hr> Make Your Own Wavs: Follow these simple steps below to make your own ( wav ) files. 1. Go visit www.pagoo.com 2. Sign up for free service. 3. Leave yourself a voicemail. 4. Upload the sound you made to your files. <hr width="400%"> Make Transparent Fonts: To make your text appear lighter or faded, use this "transparency" effect in your font code like so: (font color="white" transparency="50%")Your words go here(/font). change the ( ) to < > You can use any transparent percentage of 1-to-100%. <hr> <br> <ul><li> JavaScript Warning/No Title: If you use JavaScript codes on your pages like I do, then you should add this simple code right after the opening <body> tag in your document to WARN your visitors to RELOAD the page. Nothing will function properly unless the page is reloaded. If you don't see a title in the "status bar", you should automatically reload the page. It's telling you JavaScript is being used. Most newcomers to WebTV don't realize that and will just give up and leave thinking your page is not working. You can also customize this code by changing the (font) colors & size and the text itself. This code will be "hidden" and will only appear when the "WebTV Bug" strikes. Here's the code: (noframes><font color="#ffffff" size="6")ERROR...JAVASCRIPT BUG!...PLEASE RELOAD PAGE! (/font)(/noframes) change the ( ) to <<>> <hr> <br> <ul><li> Table Invert Border: Make your table border look like it has depth.Just add the word "invertborder" to your table code. EXAMPLE: (table width="??" border="??" invertborder) Can also be used in a horizontal rule (HR). EXAMPLE: (hr width="300" invertborder) change th ( ) to <<>> Result: Shows up better on lighter colored backgrounds. <hr> <br> <ul><li> Find Midi Address Via Info Button: Did you know you can get the address of a "midi" file (and others) just by pressing the "info" button on your keyboard? Well, you can! NOTE: Currently displays these file extensions: .mid, .mod, .rmf & .ram Also shows .wav and other audio extensions if you press the "info" button quickly while the sound is playing. <hr> WebTV Screen Size: Approximate dimensions of the screen in pixels for webpage are: 544 wide x 384 high. Email screen size is approx. 388 wide x 384 high. <hr> <br> <ul><li> JS previous, next, back, or reload links: Use these anchor tags as simple links for going to the next page, previous page, or to reload a page. <a href="javascript:history.go(+1);">Next Page</a> <a href="javascript:history.go(-1);">Go Back</a> <a href="javascript:history.go(0);">Reload Page</a> To send your visitors back more than (1) one page, change (-1) to (-2) or (-3) etc. <!-- text below generated by server.
