"Look at the stars," Fred said, from somewhere from beneath the barrage of sleeping bags, pillows and duvets.

It was Midsummer's night and Dawn, purely out of curiosity, and Fred, out of curiosity from a scientific viewpoint had convinced Lilah, Gunn, Lindsey and Cordy to camp out under the stars in the Hyperion's courtyard. Dawn just wanted to stay up all night just once this summer and wasn't Midsummer night supposed to be magical? And Fred had wanted to see if the sky did really stay blue rather than black all night.

"It takes millions of years for starlight to reach earth," Fred drawled in her undeniably Texan way. "By the time the light reaches us the star is long dead. Some become black holes. And they destroy everything in sight so it becomes lost in space forever. And here I am, just a speck of dust to them looking up and thinking how can something so beautiful suddenly become evil? But then on the other hand some of those stars are suns themselves… they support life. They have planets just like earth… at least in theory. So in accordance to the physical theory of antimatter every particle has a completely opposite but completely equal atom. So in theory, every one of us has a negative, or theoretically for fairness positive self walking around somewhere out there in outer space…"

For Dawn and Fred it would be a night of self-discovery.

Cordy and Lindsey said concluded that they'd never really seen a LA sunrise and wanted to stay up and watch that.

For Lilah and Gunn it had been an excuse to stay up all night, throw a 'midsummer night party' complete with hip-hop CD's, a silver portable stereo, dancing precariously and sensuously on a narrow wall drinking their way through a crate of Budweiser.

Lindsey and Cordy sat on the steps by the wall that after three downed buds on both sides Lilah and Gunn had declared their 'dancefloor.'

"What is she talking about?" Lindsey asked Cordy.

"Antimatter… science… I think…" Cordy told Lindsey.

"No, not Fred… how is it even possible to hold a conversation when you're dancing like that?" Lindsey asked, possessively.

"Not as skanky as Deep Throat," Cordy offered helpfully, "You're just jealous that's all…"

"I'm sorry…" Lindsey said, "Am I acting jealous?"

"Only psychotically so…" Cordelia told him, "Like I tell you practically every day… they're just friends."

"Right," Lindsey said. "Save the last dance was about friends dancing… it's hardly Julia Stiles and Sean Patrick Thomas… If I danced with my so-called friends like that at Wolfram and Hart I would've been killed…"

"Exactly… she's just having a little fun… she's been so pent up for years… let her relax."

"It's just… every time I'm near her I just want to…"

"Shove her against the wall and…"

"Exactly… It's getting harder to not get worked up around her…"

Lindsey got up leaving his thoughts on the steps behind.

"Hey," he said to Gunn, "That thing you just did constitutes as mating in thirty seven different states."

"Lindsey," Lilah said, clearly completely intoxicated, she stepped down unsteadily from the wall and wove her arms around his shoulders, planting soft kisses at the pulse points on his neck.

"OK… someone needs a strong black coffee," Lindsey said, holding her up, his arm around her waist, half dragging, half carrying her in towards the hotel.

"Where are they going?" Dawn asked.

"They just need to get unpent…" Cordy told her…

"Well… that's two happy faces I've seen this morning… should I declare a national holiday?" Cordy asked the next morning, as Lindsey hopped down the last stairs, a huge smile on his face.

Cordy crossed over so she stood opposite him.

"So I take you two are…" Cordy asked.

"I don't know…" Lindsey surprised her by saying, "I mean last night… we… you know… but she hasn't really said anything yet…"

"So you're happy with that? Leaving it up to her…"

"I don't see a choice… I wanna be with her… but she's not ready for going steady as such yet…"

"So what's it gonna be like? Are you two really just gonna do the casual sex thing?"

"I don't know… I think it meant more… I mean… words cannot describe… perfect would be an understatement… it was like all the barriers had gone and when I woke up this morning it still felt right… like it never has before…"

"Just relax… if you're tense he'll start screaming…"

"I can't… I'll drop him or something…"

"You won't but you will if you're tense…" Angel told Lilah.

She was sat on the desk in Wesley's office with Angel trying to persuade her to hold Connor for about the millionth time in six weeks.

"We're not still on this are we?" Lindsey said from the doorway with mock exasperation.

Angel watched as Lilah's face lit up when Lindsey walked into the room.

He crossed over the room and sat down on the desk next to her.

"Hey," Lindsey said softly to her, as if they were the only people left on earth.

"Hey," she whispered back equally as enthralled.

"Are you OK?" he asked her.

"Yeah I'm fine."

"Come here," he said.

She let her body relax against his as his arms encircled her waist.

"OK, hold out your arms but keep them bent so one arm is slightly up and one is slightly down," he said moving her arms gently into position, keeping his arms parallel to hers supporting them gently.

"See there's no way he can fall through," Lindsey told Lilah gently.

Lilah took a deep breath and nodded.

"OK…" she said to Angel.

Angel walked over to her and gently laid Connor in her arms.

"See…" Lindsey said, "No one as small as Connor could possibly be scary."

"You obviously didn't see bride of Chucky," Lilah joked, but Lindsey and Angel could see she was completely enamoured by Connor.

"Not so scary, huh?" Lindsey asked, looking at the happiness on her face.

"No," she said, smiling.

"Whoa… what's this?" Cordy asked Angel from the doorway.

"I don't know… it's strange though…" Lindsey teased.

"If I had a free hand I'd hit you…" Lilah told Lindsey.

"What's with the large gathering?" Gunn asked from behind Cordy in the doorway.

"A Lilah display of affection…" Cordy told him.

"And who finally got her to hold Connor?" Gunn asked.

"Lindsey…" Cordy told him, "Who else when they only have eyes for each other…"

"I wouldn't be so sure…"
