| Chapter 28 ~It can't be true!~ *20 minutes Later* 'knock knock' "Come in." "Hey Nick." Amanda said walking in. "Hey Amanda." He said glancing up at her and then turning his attention back to Kristina. "Here's your drink." She said walking over and handing it to him. "Thank you." "Your welcome." She said putting her hand on his shoulder to comfort him the best she could. Nick sighed. "Why hasn't she woke up yet?" "I don't know Nick." "I wish she would just wake up." "I know, but she's strong, she'll get through it. I know she will." 'knock knock' "Come in." "Mr. Carter I'm here to check your girlfriend out." Dr. Swanson said walking over to the opposite side of where Nick was sitting. "Okay, do you need us to leave?" "No its okay Mr. Carter." He checked her pulse, blood pressure, eyes, vital signs, the bandage on her head, etc. "Dr. Swanson, why hasn't she woke up yet?" Nick asked. "Well her body is really tired, and its trying to repair itself. And sometimes that can take only a short time but in some instances it can take a little longer. She's doing a little better but she's not out of the danger zone just yet, she might be if her condition keeps inproving like it is, but we are still going to keep a close eye on her." "Oh." Nick said looking down at her. "Okay, well I've got to check on my other patients. I'll be back in a little bit." He said walking out the door. "Well Nick I am gonna go tell everyone else what the doc said. Are you gonna be okay in here?" "Yeah I'll be fine thanks Amanda." "Your welcome." She said walking out and closing the door. *30 Minutes Later* Nick was walking back from the cafeteria. He saw alot of commotion inside Kristina's room. "Oh god what's going on? He askedout loud running to the door of the room. "Sir please get back." A nurse said pushing him aside. He looked through the mirror that looked into her room and saw doctors and nurses running around her bed. Then he herd it, that piercing sound that ripped through his heart. 'Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep........' "Oh no, no, it can't be true, NO!" He hollared out with tears tickling down his fave. He looked into the window as a nurse moved so he could see her. He saw her helpless body being poked my needles and having oxygen puped into her mouth. 'Beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.....' "No this can't be truen. No! It isn't..... No No No.....' "NOOOOOOO!!!" He hollared sitting up in the chair beside Kristina. "I was only asleep, oh god thank you." He said holding her hand. He looked around the room. 'Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep...' Her heart monitor was still indicating she was alive. He brought her hand up to his mouth and gently kissed it. "Oh Kristina please wake up. I need you. I really do. I love you so much." He shispered laying his head down on the bed. She moved a little causing Nick to jump. "Kristina?" She tried to open her eyes. "If you can hear me squeeze my hand." She lightly squeezed it, hard enough for him to feel it. After a few minutes she slowly opened her eyes. As they fluttered open Nick's face slowly appeared infront of her. He looked into her green eyes while she looked into his blue ones. He couldn't help but smiling and having a small tear fall down his face. "Hey." He whispered causing her to weakly smile. "Oh I'm so glad you woke up... I love you." He said kissing her hand. "I love you too." She hoarsely whispered. This brought tears to his eyes again. "Where am I?" She asked looking around the room. 'You're at the hospital." She looked at him puzzled. "We were in a wreck." She sighed, remembering what happened. "Are you okay Nick?" "Yea, are you?" "Yeah, but my head hurts." "Aww it'll be okay... Do you want to see everyone?" "Yeah." "Okay I'll be right back." He said leaning down and kissing her lightly and then walking out the door. Chapter 29 |
