Stars and Wishes by © Joanna Turtle Weaver As she stared up at the stars she asked them who they were. No answer. As she stared up at the stars she asked for wisdom and grace, to come to her. No answer. As she gazed up at the stars and wondered how she would love to be with them. No answer came through her mind. As she glanced up at the star lit sky she wondered what it was like to be with them. Still no answer came. Finally, as she stared at the little dipper she asked it if it were anything but a group of stars. No answer. As she lie there and fell asleep. A man came to her and said, " I am the little dipper. In time you shall meet more of us. We too were once human and longed to be as free as the stars. Don't wish it upon your self to be with us, for we are all lonely, for love and a friend." With that he left her. As the sun rose the next day, she found a present for her in her coat. It said…. As the sun rises, I will be hidden. As long as you believe in me, we shall never part. For I am the little dipper young, yet very strong. Stay with the humans and you will be lucky. As she grew up, she thanked the little dipper for her life and kids. Still no answer came but the simple light of his love. As she fell asleep one day, she drifted upon the stars. Only to find him as young as the first time they meet. Still he smiled at her to show his true love to her. As she woke, she gazed up at the stars and wondered what he really felt. For now she could live her life just as she had hoped for. Still only the brightness of the little dipper came as an answer to her. As she gazed up at the stars and wondered if he would become human again and gain her love. No answer. A month later, a young man introduced himself as the one who is called little dipper. And they were married and lived happily ever after. Maybe it was her wish that set him free or was it just his turn to return to were he belonged. By Joanna Turtle Weaver On 3/12/01 At 10:28p.m. |
