Tournament Rules
Points: 1750
Special characters:
Any player may choose to include a special character of 140 points or less in their force. This is to inspire some opportunities for conversions and for the use of some of the more colourful characters in the 40K universe.
Restrictions & Clarifications:
-Daemonhunters may be used as allies as described in the Daemonhunters codex.
-New Assault rules will be in effect.
-The revised “2nd Edition” Dark Angel and Dark Eldar codexes will be used. Any other revised codexes released before the tournament will not be used.
-All models must be represented properly ie: what you see is what you get (WSIWIG). If your veteran sgt has a plasma pistol in the army list, it must be shown on the model so that your opponent may see it.
-All models must be fully painted, ie: not just undercoated.
-Tyranid Mutable Genus rules will not be used.
-Special Army Lists Allowed: (Note - These armies like the rest must still follow the WSIWIG rule mentioned under the clarifications & restrictions section.)
-Kroot Mercenaries
-Armoured Company
-All lists in Codex: Craftworld Eldar & Codex: Armageddon.
Chapter Approved:
Articles that will be used:
-Deathwatch kill teams may be fielded as long as they are represented properly on the models, specifically the shoulder pads.
-All current army corrections will be used over existing codexes. Army corrections are current if printed before the March White Dwarf
-New Assault phase rules.
Articles that will not be used:
-Minor Psychic powers
-Tyranid seeding swarm article
Points Allocation:
Points will be awarded in the following areas:
20% - Painting
20% - Sportsmanship
10% - Army Selection and/or Theme
50% - Game Points
Scoring:
Game Points:
Game points will follow the Win/Lose/Draw points allocation system.
Win=10
Draw=7
Loss=5
In addition to these points, there will be bonus points to be earned in specific missions. These will be secondary objectives that will add +2 to your battle score if completed, whether you win or lose. If neither player completes the secondary objective, neither player gets the bonus.
Painting:
Painting points will be judged during the tournament by the Umpire present. As with the Fantasy painting scores, each army will be awarded points based on the following:
-Has the player put an honest effort into painting the army?
-Is every model in the army fully painted with at least 3 colours?
-Is every model based appropriately in a pleasing fashion (painted, flocked etc..)?
-Has highlighting and shading been used throughout the entire army?
-Does the army look cohesive? i.e., consistent colour scheme, unit markings etc..?
-Have any conversions been used in the army and if so, do they look appropriate?
In addition, each player will be asked to select the army that they believe is the best painted army on display at the tournament. Votes will be tallied and the players with the most votes will receive extra points as follows:
Most votes +10
2nd most +7
3rd +5
4th +3
5th +2
In the event of a tie for the number of votes, the points will be added together then divided equally. i.e. If there is a tie for 3rd and 4th, the points normally awarded will be added together and then divided among the players (4pts each)
Sportsmanship:
Each player will judge their opponent at the end of each match. Players will be given a sheet to note down their opponents scores, which will be returned at the end of each day to tally scores. The top 5 sportsmen will receive the same points bonuses as described under the painting scoring.
Army Selection and Theme:
Army selection points will be awarded for the following:
-Army list is in by Monday April 7th.
-Army list is correct first time.
-Has a suitable theme to it that is character with the 40k universe and not just made to take advantage of loopholes.
Important Note:
All Army lists must be presented in advance so that points values and army themes can be checked and judged. Any discrepancies in army points totals or legal army structure will count as a point against your overall score for the tournament for each time you submit an incorrect army list.
Things To Bring:
Dice
Templates
Measuring devices
Any codexes, white dwarfs or rulebooks you might need
A copy of your army list
While some terrain will be provided, any brought on the day will be appreciated and we encourage any players to help in this regard.

Any queries and/or army lists should be sent to zang@quicksilver.net.nz or if you need to contact me directly my contact phone details are 4892750 (work). -Mark Kenny
