Lunar: SSS Walkthrough

If you need help with the game, look through this walkthrough and you might get some help. I finished the game quite a while ago, but the walkthrough is incomplete, so if you have any questions about something that isn't found in this walkthrough you can email me and ask. I may never finish this walkthrough, so I've made an FAQ with the only two questions I ever get that can't be answered by reading the walkthrough. I hope the little bit I have here helps you. Please note that this is an original walkthrough made by me, and you may not put it on your webpage or claim it to be your own. If you do see it on someone's webpage, it was stolen and I ask that you please let me know right away so I can straighten out the matter with the owner of the site.

Burg

The story begins as Alex is visiting Dyne's Monument, the Dragonmaster that protected the Goddess Althena while he was alive. Alex has always wished he could have adventures like Dyne, but excitement like that is a long way from Burg.
Alex's thoughts are interupted by Nall, who reminds him that they were late for practicing their song with Luna. As they go to meet her, the ground shakes for the third time that week. They wonder what could be causing them. Then they are greeted by Alex's friend, Ramus, who tells them about a huge diamond in the White Dragon Cave that they could go find and sell for thousands and thousands of silver. They agree to go with him, but have to find Luna first. Follow Ramus into Burg, and talk to a few people to find out where Luna is. In the town you'll find out that Alex and Luna have to practice daily to sing in the yearly festival for the Goddess Althena.
Walk up the long bridge on the east side of town to find Luna. There will be a sceen with Luna singing, then Alex tells her about the White Dragon Cave. She's strongly against the idea, but when she's sure he won't change his mind, she insists on coming along. Not able to say no, he reluctantly agrees.
Back in town, go to your house and talk to your parents. Alex's dad gives him permission to open the chests in the basement, so go do that and equip the stuff you're able to. To get more stuff, you can go to the shop and sell the Angel's Tear and Star Light and buy more equipment (remember to sell your old stuff). And you can also buy some herbs & stuff.
Meet Ramus at the town exit (also note that you can heal yourself by touching the Althena statue, there's one everywhere). At this point, head out and look for the cave. You'll find it my heading North, and walking around the right, I think. When you enter the cave, walk downwards intil you come to a block of ice. You can melt it with your Flame Ring you got from your dad. Continue walking downward until you come to another cave with four ice blocks in front of it. Enter and you'll meet the White Dragon, Quark. He tells you that if you want a Dragon Diamond, you have to complete the trial. You have to retreive the Dragon ring from the depths of the cave. Go back outside and head left. Keep going through the caves you get to until you get to the room with two chests behind ice blocks. Make the Albino Baboon smash into them until they break. Now you can get the Dragon Ring (the other chest has 250s). Make your way back to Quark and he'll give you the diamond.
Back at Burg, you try to sell the diamond at the shop, but it's worth so much that the owner doesn't have the money to pay you. You are told that you could get the money if you traveled to Meribia by boat and sold it there. When you leave, Ramus asks to speak to you in private about something, so Luna waits for you at home. Ramus suggests that you and him go to Meribia without Luna, since she would only get in the way. You agree, and head to the Weird Woods with Ramus. When you enter, it's too foggy to see anything, and have to go back to Burg. You can't go back until Luna joins your party again.

Weird Woods and Saith

Back at Burg, Ramus leaves you to go home. When you talk to Luna at your house, Nall spills the beans, and Luna gets mad. Talk to your mom, and she gives you 1,000s to hrlp you on your journey. Dad suggests you make up with Luna. Speak to Luna and you apologize for trying to lie about your trip with Ramus. Luna is now going with you to Meribia. Talk to mom & dad again to say your goodbyes and go to sleep.
In the night, Luna wakes up from a dream with some doubts. She hears Alex playing music at Dyne's Monument and goes to talk to him. Luna talks about her fears of leaving Burg, then returns home.
In the morning, talk to your parents and go meet Ramus at the town exit. Go to the Weird Woods once again, and it's still foggy. Luna then starts singing and clears up the fog. Everyone's impressed, but Luna doesn't know how she did it. Continue walking through the woods until you come to a large clearing. All of a sudden, you'll be surrounded by a bunch of Goblins. A man named Laike will appear to help you (I think he asks if you want help... say yes!). He'll do all the work for you, he's at level 99! When all the enemies are gone, it'll show everyone sitting by a campfire, where Alex explains about his dream to become a Dragonmaster and stuff. Everyone goes to sleep eventually, and Laike is gone when they wake up in the morning. Continue to make your way out of the woods (which is very close at this point) and enter the town of Saith on the other side.
When you enter, you'll want to heal youself at Althena's statue, and pick up some better equpment at the shops. You should also talk to as many people in the town as you can, people can usually give you the occasional bit of info.
Go to the dockhouse at the south end of town and talk to captain of the Hispaniola (the ship that travels from Saith to Meribia). You'll find out that he can't sail the ship because he gambled away the sea chart to a man named Brett at the bar. Go to the bar and find Brett. Agree to gamble with him, and he'll automatically win (he cheats). Do it a second time and Ramus reveals Brett as a cheater. He gives you back what you lost, and admits that he traded the chart to an old hag for a Fortune Cane. He suggest you try to trade it back to her.
Head northwest to the Old Hag's Forest, and make your way to the Old Hag's house. Be careful, some of the chests contain enemies instead of items! When you come to the long path leading to the Old Hag's house, you'll hear something coming from one of the traps along it. When you open it, you meet Nash, a third-year disciple of the Universitiy of Vane. Continue into the Old Hag's house with Nash as your new companion. You'll find the Old Hag on the second floor of the house, but she doesn't want the Fortune Cane, she wants the Water Cane that Nash is carrying. Luna convinces him to give it up, and the Old Hag gives you the Sea Chart in return. If you talk to her again a few times, she takes the Fortune Cane too, but I'm not sure you really needed it anyway.
Return to Saith and talk to the Captain again (make sure you have everything you need from the shps in Saith). He'll tell you that there is now a huge monster eating the ship, and no one is brave enough to get rid of it. We know who has to do it, so just volunteer. You will be escorted to the ship where the monster is. Make sure you're at least level 11 and you save before you fight it so you'll be ready if you die. Give any items you might use during battle o Ramus, it's OK for him to waste a turn using an item because he doesn't do as much damage as the rest of them. When you start the battle, have Alex keep using Sword Dance, have Luna use Cascade song on each party member, and healing people when needed. Have Ramus attack unless he needs to use an item, and have Nash use thunder magic over and over. When Alex runs out of MP, he can use regular attacks, or Ramus can use Star Light on him. You have to do a certain amount of damage to the Saline Slimer each turn because it replenishes HP each turn.
Whe you've defeated the Saline Slimer, you hand over the sea chart to the captain and prepare to board the ship. When you talk to Luna, she tells Alex that she's going to stay behind and go back to Burg.
In the morning, the ship is starting to sail when Alex begs Luna to come with them. She grabs his hand just in time and boards the ship with the rest of them.

On the Boat, and Meribia

Once you have control of Alex on the boat, just walk around and talk to people for a while. Before you talk to Luna, go to the shop in the lower deck. If you need to buy equipment, do that, but you probably won't need it. I do recommend bying at least two soaps. Believe me, you'll probably want them later.
When you're done talking and buying, talk to Luna a few times and you'll go to sleep. When you wake up in the middle of the night, Luna will be gone. Go to the upper deck, and there will be a sceen of Luna singing about her dreams (the lyrics are on my lyrics page, obviously). After that's over, you go back to sleep and arrive in Meribia in the morning. You have to actually stand at the bow to go there.
At Meribia your party will split up. Nash goes to attend to some urgent matters, and Ramus goes to seel the diamond, leaving you, Luna, and Nall to explore. There are some good shops you can go to get equipment & stuff, so don't forget to stop by there (you'll be needing it soon).
At the very North part of town you should go to meet the mayor of town, Mel (Hell Mel), also one of the Four Heroes that fought alongside Dragonmaster Dyne. He'll make sure you understand not to cause any trouble in his town, then challenge you to a friendly battle. Don't stress yourself, it's not nessessary to win.
When the fight's over, you can talk to him again and he'll brag about his beautiful daughter, Jessica. If you talk to other people though, you'll learn that Jessica is actually quite a tomboy, but her father thinks otherwise since she hides it from him. He thinks she spends most of her time praying at Althena's Shrine.
OK, now you'll want to head west of the town to Black Rose Street to find Nash (there's some shops here too). You'll find him at the very last building with a fortune teller named Royce. She makes a short intoduction, then Nash tells you he still has some things to discuss, so you should leave. Go find Ramus at the general store near Black Rose Street. It seems he's having trouble negotiating with the owner about a price. The owner doesn't seem convinced that it's a real Dragon Diamond, so he offers $20,000 for it (or something like that). You end up having to take the offer, so he takes the diamond with him to get the $. It takes a suspiciously long time for him to come back, so Nall peaks in the door. The man is gone! Before you follow him in, make sure you have equipment for Ramus and the rest of your party if you haven't done so.
When you enter the sewer, you can choose to raise levels a little, or go straight ahead to find that thief. I suggest conserving your MP as much as possible because you'll have to fight a boss before you get to the store owner.
At the end of the sewer, you find the store owner is not willing to give over the diamond without a fight. He sends out his little "pet" to take care of you. I don't remember what it's called, but it looks like a serpent of some sort. For the battle, have Alex keep using his Sword Dance, Luna should use cascade song on everyone and healing when nessesary. Have Ramus attack or use items when nesessary.
When you've defeated the monster, you corner the shop owner. Ramus convinces him to give them the diamond and the store! As for the store owner, Ramus gives him a job helping him just so he can learn about being a buisiness man. He plans to fire him later.
Make your way out of the sewer, but befor you get to the store you're going to want to give all of Ramus' items and equipment to someone else. Ramus is about to leave the party to run the store. When you reach the store, you say your goodbyes and Ramus gives you half of the money for the diaomond as promised.
Now Nash joins your party (he was waiting for you at the shop), and asks you to come to Vain with him to talk to Ghaleon and Lemia Ausa, two of the Four Heroes. They agree to go, except Ramus of coarse. Now sell Ramus' stuff and leave the town. Head to the east and you'll see the magic city of Vain floating around the Goddess tower.

Journey to Vane

After you get your first glimse of Vane, go to Transmission Springs (the thing that looks like a pool) to go to Vane. It seems that due to Magic Emperor problems, everyone is wary of anyone unauthorized entering Vane. Nash vouches for you, but you still must get a letter from Phacia at Althena's Shrine to enter Vane. Head to the Shrine and talk to Phacia to get the letter. Once you have it, go back to Transmission Springs. When you try again to enter, Nash explain that you must pass through the Cave of Trials to prove yourself. Nash moves on to Vane, leaving you and Luna to make it through yourself. You might want to save right about now, and make sure you have a few Star Lights saved up. If you don't, don't worry about it.
When you enter the cave, there will be a few different sections with someone at the end of each one who will heal you. There will also be the occasional traveler who's been lost for quite a while.
After being healed by the third guardian, try not to use up much MP, you'll need it soon. When you come to the large clearing, you'll see a huge monster that you'll have to kill, so be sure you save in case you fail.
This huge mushroom-like boss gives you a really hard time. For your best chance at beating it, have Alex use his Sword Dance until his MP runs out, then just attack. Have Luna start out by using Cascade Song on Alex, then heal as much as possible.
With the boss defeated, go through the door it was blocking into the final chamber (don't worry, there are no enemies to fight there). Talk to the final guardian, and proceed through the doorway straight to Vane!

The Magic City

When you enter Vane, Nash isn't arround. Go heal yourself at the Althena statue in the northwest end of town. Since you have a lot of $ from the cave, go and buy some new stuff before entering the largest building at the top-center of town. There you'll find Nash waiting for you. He asks if you'd like to rest before you meet with Ghaleon. You decide to look around and Luna prefers to rest after all that work at the cave of trials. Nash leads her to a room for her to rest in while he tends to some buisiness. Soon, Luna hears some music that sounds like Alex's song coming from outside, so she decides to investigate. Once outside, she sees a stranger playing the familiar song on a harp-like instrument. It then shows a short sceen where Luna explais she thought it was Alex playing. The stranger explains that it was composed by Dyne, and Luna tells him that Alex hopes to become the new Dragonmaster. The stranger leaves shortly and the sceen switches to Alex and Nall. You have a chance to explore the Magic Guild to your heart's content, but there is one thing you have to do before you can meet with Ghaleon. If you go to one of the downstairs area, you'll find a girl in her room who seems very upset. There's a sceen where she, not realizing who you are, tells you that she can't go to the magic school today because she's not feeling well. She then sees that you aren't a messanger of her mother's and introduces herself as Mia Ausa, Lemia Ausa's daughter. When the sceen's done, you introduce yourselves and have a short conversation about your ambitions to become Dragonmaster. You become fast friends before Nash comes in and yells at you for disturbing Mia (the object of his passion). Mia tries to tell him it's OK, but he tells you it's time to meet Ghaleon, and not to keep him waiting. He then leaves you meet Ghaleon.
I haven't done this, but I hear that if you ignore Nash's orders you can find Nash in the east wing with Royce. When he sees you, he's surprised and tells you not to keep Ghaleon waiting.
Now it's really time to meet Ghaleon. Find your way to where Ghaleon is wating. You'll find Luna and Nash waiting outside his quarters. Nall will tell Luna of their brief meeting with Mia, and she says she'd like to meet her. Nash reminds you once again not to keep Ghaleon waiting, so you procede into the room. When you see Ghaleon, Luna realizes that he was the stranger that she saw outside playing the music. He says that Nash has told him how you are seeking the dragons, and if it's true that you can help him. He informs you of a man in Lan that claims to be the Dragonmaster. He wants you to see if it's true, because he'd like to speak with him. You agree to check out the situation, and Nash decides to come along too. If you want, you can have Luna meet Mia, but it isn't nessesary.

Nanza

When you exit Vane, enter the mountain pass to the west. Some of the enemies here are tough, so move west as quickly as possible to avoid them. Also avoid the chests, some of them contain enemies. If your desperate for free items, save right before you open one, and reset if it's an enemy. This is very time-consuming, so I would recommend just coming back later when you're stronger.
When you arrive in Nanza, you can try to go out the other side, but you find out that you need the permission from the boss, Kyle. Someone tells you that Kyle is at the top of the Northern tower. When you find him, he's mummbling something about his girlfriend. When you travel to the Eastern tower, someone tells you that he wend to the kitchen underground to get something to eat. In the kitchen, someone tells you that he wend to sleep. When you go to Kyle's room above the kitchen (this is getting annoying) someone tells you that when Kyle is drunk, they lock him in a jail cell for his own safety. Go to the left and you'll finally see Kyle locked in a cell. There'll be a short seen of Kyle in his drunken state, and the guy in the room tells you to leave him alone to calm down. You can now go out of Nanza through the west gate.
The path after the gate is much easier, and there are no surprises. Just follow the path northwest towards Lan.

Dragonmaster?

When you arrive in Lan, heal yourself at the Althena Statue and talk to some people around the town. You'll learn that the guy who says he's a Dragonmaster is causing a lot of trouble for the people in the town. You'll eventually come to a house near the docks where you'll see a young lady standing on top of a table telling all the townspeople that she thinks the Dragonmaster is a fake, and she plans to find him and teach him a lesson. She joins up with your party to find him.
Go to the docks and speak to the fisherman. After your new friend (Jessica) convinces him, he lets you use his boat to get to the island the "Dragonmaster" is on. When you reach the island, head Northwest to find the Dragonmaster. Avoid stepping on the water, is takes some of your HP. Some of the chests you open make you confused I think, which makes it hard to control your character.
When you see a tent in the Northwest corner, be sure your healed considerably and you should probably save sometime before confronting the Dragonmaster. When you see him, he prepares to fight for his title and enlarges a frog that hops by that he sais is a dragon.
In battle, have Alex attack with sword dance or explosion staff, have Nash use thunder magic, have Luna use cascade song on Alex and Nash, then heal when nesessary, and have Jessica attack and heal when nesessary.
After defeating the "Dragonmaster" he'll admit that he was never actually the Dragonmaster, he was just taking advantage of his power to controll the monsters on the island. He promises to be good, so have Jessica use escape litany to avoid the walk back to the boat.
After returning to Lan, Phacia is there to congratulate you for defeating the fake Dragonmaster. Jessica leaves to go back to the Althena's Shrine to study, so the rest of your party heads back towards Vane. On your walk back, open some of those chests, you're at a higher level now and the enemies shouldn't be a problem.

Lemia: Revealed

When you get back to Vane, heal yourself of coarse and head to the main building. You'll find Mia and Ghaleon waiting for you, and Nash leaves at this point. You're told that Lemia is coming to meet you. There is a short sceen where Lemia accuses Alex of wanting to destroy Althena and the magic guild. She orders the guards to take him to the dungeon.
In the dungeon, Alex hears a familiar voice moaning in another cell. Mis then comes to his cell to let him out. She explains that this is not like her mother at all. She's always been kind, but lately she's noticed a bad change. She doesn't believe that this could actually be her real mother, so she give Alex Althena's mirror. It's used to show peoples' true self.
As they head out to look for Luna, they here a cry from the other prisoner and go to her cell. Mia sees that she is wearing a mask that was used by the Vile Tribe to prevent people from having memories. They were banned years ago, along with the Vile tribe, to the Frontier, and Mia wonders who could be so cruel. They decide to take the prisoner with them to the star room to look for everyone.
On the main floor, there's a set of double doors you have to pass through. Mia will get you through, but you find out that you can't pass through the Magic shield with weapons equipped. You can un-equip them, or I'm told that you can use Dragonfly wings to get through.
Once you're through, make your way up to the top of the tower to the star room where everyone is waiting. You'll see Luna in the middle singing. When she sings, the prisoner's memory starts to return. Luna then stops when she sees you. She sais that they made her sing by threatening to kill her is she didn't. Lemia steps up to you, and Mia puts the mirror out to reveal an imposter. Ghaleon is shocked by this. With that, there is a sceen that includes Royce, Phacia, and Lemia. Lemia changes into Xenobia, a descendant of the Vile Tribe. The three of them then dissapear, leaving you to fight a bunch of monsters they left for you. After defeating the monsters, the sceen fades and you are automatically back at the main room. The real Lemia, who was hidden behind the mask, thanks you. Unfortunately, her magical powers may never be the same because of the stress of the mask. Ghaleon then asks if you would acompany him to the White Dragon's cave so he can speak to Quark. You agree, and off you go on another adventure.

Betrayal

In order to go back to the white dragon's cave, you haave to travel on a ship from Meribia. While you're there, you should get yourself some items if you're running low.
Go to the main building where Mel is and you'll find Mel, Jessica, and Ghaleon in conversation. Mel notices you and introduces his daughter Jessica. He doesn't know you've already met, he thinks Jessica spends her days at Althena's shrine studying to be a priestess. Nall is confused about why Jessica is ignoring the fact that they know each other, but Jessica hints to act the same way so her dad doesn't find out where she's been.
Jessica escorts you to her room where you're supposed to sleep that night, and explains that her dad was a former pirate, and her mother was a proper lady, and ever since she died, Mel was proud that she was so much like her mother. She didn't want to dissapoint him. She then leaves you to sleep in the room for the night.
In the morning, Luna wakes up after having that strange dream again. Alex assures her it was only a dream, and they procede to go talk to Mel. He tells you that he's waiting by the ship at the docks. You say your goodbyes and head to the docks.
When you talk to Ghaleon at the docks on the east side of town, he asks if you're ready to go. Say yes when everything's in order, and you'll board the ship.
On the ship, Ghaleon asks why you want to be the dragonmaster. Alex replies that he wants to protect the people he loves. Ghaleon then asks what he would do if he had to pick between the ones he loved and the world. Alex asks how anyone could make that decision, ank Ghaleon tells him that the Dragonmaster has to make decisions like that all the time.
Once the ship has landed, make your way to the white dragon's cave, stopping at Burg to talk to family and friends if you want. You can use Ghaleon (who's at level 99) to do all the fighting. You may want to keep fighting with him before meeting with Quark, it's an easy way to raise levels.
When you reach the white Dragon, Ghaleon will want to ask him a question about Luna. He asks something like, was Luna the one born on the day Dyne died? Quark thinks, and since Ghalleon was a friend of Dyne, he gives him the answer: yes, she's the one. With that answer, Ghaleon steps forward and starts the laugh. With a flash of light, Ghaleon reveals himself.
"Not Ghaleon dear Quark. Magic Emperor Ghaleon!" Ghaleon stands in front of them, now transformed.
"Magic Emporor?" Alex asks in shock.
"Ghaleon, no," adds Luna hopelessly.
"Oh no, ah hah hah, Ghaleon yes! Some day people may mourne this day, but my glorious rule can only begin with your enslavement!" Ghaleon laughs as he casts a massive seal arround quark and reduces him to a tiny sparkle of light. "hm," he says as it lands in his palm. "Quark shall be the cornerstone of a new order. My world order. But... who shall be my queen?" He asks as he stares down at Luna. Luna is teleported to his side to where Quark used to be. Alex and Luna call for each other, but Ghaleon sends an attack toward Alex and disappears with Luna. With his last once of strength, Alex calls.
"Luna..." everything goes black.

Well, this is all I bothered to do before I got bored, so... there it is. If you didn't find what you were looking for, check out the FAQ, and if you still aren't satisfied, go ahead and email me your question. I'll probably just direct you to another walkthrough, but you can email me anyway, I won't yell at you.
