So, you REALLY want to know about me? You poor thing!! :-) I'm reluctant to give my full name (for fear of "net stalkers"), but you can call me Bren! I was born in 1972, & have lived in the same small town my entire life. (well, almost!)Nothing fancy about me, really. Just a plain ol' Midwestern gal with some deep thoughts
My Silly Side
I'm a kid at heart. I believe that if you take life too seriously & "act adult" all the time, you lose touch with that fun-loving, child-like innocence, & you forget what it's like to just "kick back" once in awhile & have no worries, even if it's just for a few fleeting moments. I still love to watch cartoons, have snowball fights, & pick on my younger sister! I dance around the house with my cats (yeah, like you don't!=) ), & laugh at things that nobody else thinks are funny. I like going to the toy section of department stores & drawing stupid faces on the Magna Doodles. These are things that remind me that life isn't just about going to work & paying bills. That sometimes it's the silly stuff that makes life more meaningful.
My Emotional Side
I can be a very argumenative person, especially when I feel very strongly about something. I get stressed out alot, & unfortunaltely, I tend to take out most of my frustrations on those I love (my parents, sister, & husband mainly). I get misty-eyed when watching those "Latter Day Saints" commercials, & cry when I watch a program about a child or animal being abused, abandoned or abducted. I try to be compassionate towards those who are going through a tough time. While I'm not always the best advice giver, my friends tell me I am a very good listener. I believe that at times the best thing you can do for someone is to just hold their hand & "help them cry". Sometimes, just being there is more meaningful than any words.
My Spiritual Side
I'm a non-denominational Christian. I've always believed in God, but never began taking it seriously until July 11th 1999, when I officially accepted Him into my life & became baptized. I feel that doing so has made a huge difference in my life, because I want to be a better person now. I used to go to church because I felt like is was more of an obligation, but now I love going. When I got baptized, a guy told me I would probably go through some very rough times where my faith would be tested, & possibly questioned, but to always remain true to myself & not give in. And he was right, the 1st year was probably one of the most spiritually difficult times in my life. I love learning about God though. And the more I learn, & the more experiences I go through, (the good & bad) the more stronger & closer I become in my faith.
My Musical Side
Anyone who knows me well knows how much I love music! It reaches you on so many levels! It has the ability to bring back a fond memory, make you forget your troubles, energize you, or just make you want to cut loose & have fun. And of course there are those special songs that touch something deep inside of you and bring you to tears because they are just so beautiful! Those are my favorites! :) As for types of music, my taste is quite varied. As a kid it was strictly rock & roll. But over the years I have grown to appreciate nearly every type - Pop/rock (new & old alike, especially 80's music!), dance, country, classical, Christian (hymns or pop/rock), the list goes on. In fact probably the only type of music I don't like is the really heavy industrial-type rock (think Rage Against the Machine, Pantera, Nine-Inch Nails, etc...). I don't like anything that makes me want to punch out a wall or causes me to have a nervous breakdown, LOL. No offense to anyone who likes that stuff, of course. But it's just not my style! ;)
