A PIZZA THE SIZE OF THE SUN
I'm making a pizza the size of the sun,
A pizza that's sure to weigh more than a ton,
A pizza too massive to pick up and toss,
A pizza resplendent with oceans of sauce.
I'm topping my pizza with mountains of cheese,
With acres of peppers, pimentos, and peas,
With mushrooms, tomatoes, and sausage galore,
With every last olive they had at the store.
My pizza is sure to be one of a kind,
My pizza will leave other pizzas behind,
My pizza will be a delectable treat
That all who love pizza are welcome to eat.
The oven is hot, I believe it will take
A year and a half for my pizza to bake.
I hardly can wait till my pizza is done
My wonderful pizza the size of the sun.

ONE MORE BITE
By Carole Spinelli
Adapted by Susan Engelmann
At four o'clock when I came home |
clock |
So ravenous from school, |
|
I barely got inside |
|
Before my mouth began to drool |
|
I stormed the kitchen like a thief |
|
Because I craved a treat. |
|
I searched through all the cabinets |
|
For something good to eat |
|
I first consumed a vegetable |
carrot |
For health was on my mind |
|
And then I chomped a piece of fruit |
apple |
Right through its bumpy rind. |
|
Because the hunger didn't quit |
|
I gnawed some homemade bread |
loaf |
I ate a cherry lollipop |
lollipop |
Which made my mouth all red |
|
I then proceeded to digest |
|
A giant piece of pie |
pie |
With dollops of whipped cream on top |
whipped cream |
So swirly, twirly high. |
|
Then my mother gave to me |
|
A sandwich of baloney |
sandwich |
I'd rather have a pizza pie |
pizza |
All topped with pepperoni!
|
|
PIZZA MAN
Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, pizza man
|
clap hands together
|
Make me a pizza as fast as you can
|
shake finger
|
Roll it
|
roll as if with rolling pin
|
Toss it
|
pretend to toss dough in the air
|
Sprinkle it with cheese
|
sprinkling motions
|
Put it in the oven
|
pushing motion with hands
|
And bake it fast, please!
|

PIZZA MAN, PIZZA MAN
Pizza man, pizza man, turn around
Pizza man, pizza man, touch the ground
Pizza man, pizza man, smell a rose
Pizza man, pizza man, touch your toes
Pizza man, pizza man, touch the sky
Pizza man, pizza man, wave goodbye
Pizza man, pizza man, turn around
Pizza man, pizza man, sit back down
Pizza man, pizza man, shake your head
Pizza man, pizza man, go to bed
PIZZA SONG
To the tune of "If you're happy and you know it"
If you want to eat some pizza
Raise your hand.
If you want to eat some pizza
Raise your hand.
If you like bubbly cheese,
Then just say, "Pizza please!"
If you want to eat some pizza,
Raise your hand.
~Jean Warren~
PIZZA
Piz-za, piz-za. Let's have pizza!
Let's have pizza with cheese on top!
Pizza, pizza. Let's have pizza!

PIZZA SONG
To the tune of "Twinkle twinkle little star"
Pizza, pizza it's a treat.
Pizza, pizza is fun to eat!
Ooey-gooey cheese so yummy
Crunchy crust goes in my tummy.
Pizza, pizza it's a treat
Pizza, pizza is fun to eat!
PAPER PIZZAS
Give each child a large circle of tan or brown construction paper. Let them glue on small red paper circles (pepperoni) scraps of yellow (cheese) green (bell peppers) white (mushrooms) and black (olives). If the circles are large enough, suggest that the children use them as placemats the next time they eat real pizza!
Making Friends has a Pizza paper craft in their preschool crafts section. Check it out!
