The beautiful felt used for this one comes from Magic Cabin Dolls. It is costly, but wonderful to work with. It is made from 100% wool, and does not shred at all. It is very dense, and the colors are gorgeous. I highly recommend it!
A Farmer's Dozen
by Sandra Joanne
Russell
Harper & Row, 1982
A farmer working in the sun
Was all
alone -- the only one.
Then one day he said, "I
do."
He'd found a wife -- and they were two.
A baby joined the family --
And
brought their number up to three
A small dog barked outside the door
He
wagged his tail -- and they were four.
A spotted cow did soon arrive
and
brought their number up to five.
A billy goat with horns atwist
Butted
in -- and they were six.
A snow-white goose from cloudless
heaven
Swooped right down -- and made it seven.
A dappled horse stopped at the
gate
When he entered, they were eight.
As yet they hadn't any swine.
They
bought a pig -- and they were nine.
Next they found a plump red hen.
With
her their number came to ten.
A cocky rooster strutted in
then--
crowing proud to make eleven.
The hen upon a barnyard shelf
produced
a chick -- and they were twelve.
So now we have a farmer's dozen.
Let's
end before they add a cousin.
