Dinosaurs
Long, long ago
When the earth was new
Dinosaurs walked
and swam and flew.
Allosaurus
Triceratops
Apatosaurus, too.
Iguanodon
Tyrannosaurus
To name a few.
Long, long ago
When the earth was new
Huge dinosaurs lived
and small ones too.

Five in the Nest
There were five in the nest,
At the little one's request,
"Move over! Move over!
They all moved over and one fell out.
(Repeat with 4,3,2,1 until all are out of the nest) To use as a flannelboard story, gather five dinosaur shapes on the flannelboard and remove one each time.
1 red, 1 pink, 1 green dinosaur
1 blue, 1 purple, 1 yellow dinosaur
1 orange, 1 white, 1 black dinosaur
9 little dinosaurs ROAR
Cut dinos out of felt. Use flannel board to make a memory game. Have the children close their eyes while you remove one dino. Let them guess what color you removed. Give hints.
Ten Humungous Dinosaurs
Ten humongous dinosaurs,
Standing in a line.
One fell down,
And now there are nine.
Nine humongous dinosaurs,
Playing very late,
One went to bed,
And now there are eight.
Eight humongous dinosaurs,
One of them named Kevin,
Tripped on a mountain,
And now there are seven.
Seven humongous dinosaurs,
Doing lots of tricks.
One bumped his head,
And now there are six.
Six humongous dinosaurs,
Learning how to dive.
One did a belly-flop,
And now there are five.
Five humongous dinosaurs,
Pushing through a door.
One got stuck,
And now there are four.
Four humongous dinosaurs,
Stepping over a tree.
One got a sliver,
And now there are three.
Three humongous dinosaurs,
Going to the zoo.
One teased the tigers,
And now there are two.
Two humongous dinosaurs,
Liked to run and run.
One ran too far,
And now there's only one.
One humongous dinosaur,
Cozy in the sun,
Curled up and fell asleep,
And now there are none!

The Five E-Nor-Mous Dinosaurs
Five E-Nor-Mous dinosaurs |
arms extend to sides |
Shouting out a roar. |
cup hands over mouth like
megaphone |
Along came an alligator, |
move hand in wavy motion |
Then there were four. |
hold up four fingers |
Four E-Nor-Mous dinosaurs |
extend arms to sides |
Sitting in a tree. |
|
'Til the wind blew by. |
sweep hands across body |
Then there were three. |
hold up three fingers |
Three E-Nor-Mous dinosaurs |
extend arms to sides |
Were taken to the zoo. |
|
'Til one got away, |
|
Then there were two. |
hold up two fingers |
Two E-Nor-Mous dinosaurs |
|
Were having such fun. |
|
'Til a volcano blew up |
push both arms above head |
Then there was one. |
hold up one finger |
One E-Nor-Mous dinosaur |
extend arms to sides |
He must have weighed a ton. |
|
'Til the lakes dried up. |
|
Then there were none! |
Close hand into fist |

Can't go under it. |
move hand down |
Can't go around it. |
move hand around |
Guess I'll go over it. |
reach hands as if
climbing |
There's a river. |
hands over eyes. |
|
NOTE: REPEAT ABOVE ACTIONS AS APPROPRIATE FOR THE REST OF THE
CHANT |
Can't go over it. |
|
Can't go under it |
|
Guess I'll swim across it. |
move arms as if
swimming |
There's some tall grass. |
|
Can't go over it |
|
Can't go around it |
|
Guess I'll go through it |
slap hands up and down in
front |
There's a cave! |
|
Can't go over it |
|
Can't go under it. |
|
Guess I'll go in it |
|
It's dark and spooky in here |
shake |
It's cold in here! |
wrap arms around self and
shiver |
I feel some scales |
pretend to rub
something |
I feel some big teeth! |
pretend to touch
something |
