Puppets and Poetry:

Five Bunny fingerpuppets  (Use with the following rhyme)

Five little Rabbits

Five little rabbits under a log
This one said "Shh! I hear a dog!"
This one said "I see a man!"
This one said "Run while you can!"
This one said "I'm not afraid!"
This one said, "Let's hide in the shade!"
A man and his dog went hurrying by,
And you should have seen those rabbits fly!

Folkmanis Rabbit  (use puppet to with the following poem)

A Poem In Praise of Rabbits

A bunny is a quiet pet,
A bunny is the best thing yet,
A bunny never makes a sound
A bunny's nice to have around.

Puppies whimper, bark and growl;
Kittens mew and tom cats yowl;
Birdies twitter, chirp, and tweet;
Moo-cows moo, and lambkins bleat;

Some creatures bellow, others bray;
Some hoot, or honk, or yap, or neigh;
Most creatures make annoying noises,
Even little girls and boyses.

A bunny, though, is never heard,
He simply never says a word.
A bunny's a delightful habit,
No home's complete without a rabbit.
Clare Newberry

Fingerplays:

Little Bunny
(There was a little Turtle)

There was a little bunny who lived in the wood. Hold up two fingers
He wiggled his ears as a good bunny should. Place forefingers on either side of head and wiggle
He hopped by a squirrel Two fingers hop down arm.
He hopped by a tree Repeat
He hopped by a duck Repeat
And he hopped by me. Hop over opposite fist
He stared at the squirrel Stare
He stared at the tree Stare
He stared at the duck. Stare
But he made faces at me! Wiggle nose rabbit fashion

Tired Bunnies

"Come my bunnies, it's time for bed." Beckoning motion with hand
That's what mother bunny said,
"But first I'll count you just to see Finger on chin contemplating
If you have all come back to me.
Bunny one, bunny two, bunny three, oh dear Hold up each finger as bunnies are counted
Bunny four, bunny five, yes you're all here.
You're the sweetest things alive
My bunnies one, two, three four five. Hug bunnies to chest

Rabbit Doesn't Have a Tail at All
(London Bridge)
Rabbit doesn't have a tail at all,
Tail at all, tail at all.
Rabbit doesn't have a tail at all,
Just a power puff.

His ears are longer than his tail,
Than his tail, than his tail.
His ears are longer than his tail,
It's a powder puff.

I'm a Little Bunny
(I'm A Little Teapot)

I'm a little bunny, with a cotton tail;
See me hopping down the trail,
When I see a carrot ---
My ears - they shake!

A Bite I take!!!
CRUNCH!!!!!

Storytelling:

Little Rabbit Foo Foo
Celebrate this naughty rabbit with gusto.
Sing to the tune of "Aloutte."

Sing:
Little Rabbit Foo Foo hopping through the forest
Scooping up the field mice, smack 'em on the head.

Speak:
Down came the good fairy and she said,
"Little Rabbit Foo Foo, I don't like your attitude.
Scooping up the field mice, smack 'em on the head,
"I'll give you three chances,
And if you don't stop that,
I'll turn you into a goon, Phoof!"

Next morning, Little Rabbit Foo Foo wakes up and says,
"Oh what a beautiful morning, I think I'll take a walk.
I really shouldn't, I really, really shouldn't, but I will."

Little Rabbit Foo Foo hopping through the forest

And the moral of the story is hare today, goon tomorrow.
