I met a learned man
Who enforced his life plan
To walk a path lined
With apple trees - entwined.
His doctrine every day
To progress along this way
Was ONLY apples to consume
And nothing further to presume.
There was another teacher
As well as a preacher
Each on their own trail
Each anxious not to fail.
Melons for one man
Was HIS vision of the plan
To which had to be adhered,
All else was to be feared.
Another strode along
Steering clear of all wrong,
Consuming only peaches
Avoiding all other teachers.
I listened and observed
These truths which I had heard,
Yet could NOT separate
The fig from the date.
Henceforth I carved my route
Gathering many kinds of fruit
Enjoying the nectar of each,
Balancing ALL the truths they teach.
My path was paved with peace
(my digestive system at ease)
I discovered my OWN taste
And proceeded without haste.
Thus, wisdom comes in life
To each of us who strive
To find what is true
And with love to then pursue.
So many paths aligned
To chose from, each must find
The one that suits HIM best
In this most important Quest.
