Sahduin

Sahduin, Wisdom

You leave Nianth'halah, following the path she showed you. It's well worn, with hoof prints up and down it.

Then, you hear a loud and trained voice echo through the trees, much stronger than Nianth'halah's.

"Hear the distant Thunder Clash
Listen to the beat of hooves
Upon the distance presence
See the mighty move"

You start jogging down the dirt path, and you come to see a dark shape in a small glade. It's clearly a Pah'llock mare, with fully grown down-turned horns. It's dancing as well, hooves, bucks, jumps and spins all landing in perfect time with the beat.

"Along the lighting flash
Loud screams of fear
Slice the silence of night"
The force of disaster is near

The mare turns your way with her eyes closed. She continues, her loud and musical voice carrying the song along. You see wet streaks near her eyes.

"The flame burning on a candle's wick
Near the end of its train
When disaster is over
It brings purifying rain"

She continues, her voice wavering a little from the tears. Her dance has become more passionate now- the bucks and leaps are more exaggerated and she's sweating because of the effort.

"The last of the Tribes flee
The horrors they see below
They flee to the Web Of Worlds
Upon Diana's Bow"

You begin to wonder what in the world the song means. It seems strange, as if it's about some kind of journey.

"Lost is six tribes strong
The mighty only remain
Untied in a safe haven
Mourning those who were slain"

You can see tears streaks on her black face. Her eyes are still shut, you wonder why she doesn't open them until you remember that Nianth'halah said that she was sensitive about them. Why?

"Days, months, the future passes
It raptures the night
Surely, they will find
The hope within their fight"

She trails on the last note and her dances calms until she is standing, swaying a bit, with her head near the ground where she mumbles a few words. Then, she raises her head and opens her eyes.

She turns towards you. You yelp, and she shies and does the same.

This mare doesn't have the same soft equine eyes that Nianth'halah does. Rather, she has bright jade dragon eyes. You back up a little.

She snorts at you. "Another K'zarti flees from yom kree'd!nis aliz. Typical." She trots right up to you, and looks into your eyes. You stand, transfixed. The deep green of her eyes is almost unimagineable, and can almost feel her looking into your soul.

"Hmph. Another K'zarti who is unwilling to accept." she says in Allorian and smooth english. She backs up and snorts. "Did you like my alai?"

"Your what?"

"My song, K'zarti. Yom sing like the halah na Sa'nitha. So memberable that you never forget. Or so Nianth'halah tells me. I dedicate most of my alai to the Souls of Pah'llocks who died when the Bulette swept Tir. That song was for Kano, the Uncle of my mate, Santios. Quite a nice stallion," She smiles at you, having lost all fear. She sniffles. "The Bulette destoryed everything...our homes, our hope, and shattered hearts." Tears glisten on her cheeks. "The Winged One recently made a mind connection with T'sarnoth, who lives in Tir. If you wish to read her saga, there is a book over by that tree."

"Why do you say that Kano is a nice stallion when he's...um...dead?" You ask, confused.

"Ah. I am a Spirit Singer. I seem to have a talent for actually speaking to the souls of creatures. Only five times have I actually entered their realm, it was the most frightening experiences of my life. Three times I almost died." She sighs and shakes her mane, sniffling and blinking away drying tears.

You are still mezmorized by the mare's bright eyes, even though they are wet with tears. You pet her mane, and wipe her eyes dry, then tell her how beautiful her eyes are.

She smiles. "Most K'zarti do not say that. They run, because I am different. My sister, Saffon'vanim is blue, but many K'zarti accept that I think. But my eyes..." She turns her head towards the sun. "My eyes scare humans that do not want to see something different. They are scared of something they don't understand. You are not like that, K'zarti, because you accepted me as a being, and not a freak because of my eyes."

This mare knows much for her age. You supposed that Nianth'halah doesn't even know how smart Sahduin is.

"My name means 'Wisdom' in Allorian...I believe my Dam somehow knew I was to understand more...she knew I would be a seer..." All of a sudden she hiccoughs as a fresh set of tears wallow in. You lean in, asking her if she is alright. "It is nothing, K'zarti. It is that...my Dam bore her last foal, my last sister...and now even she has returned to the Tir!" Sahduin chokes for a moment, lowering her horned head and wiping her eyes on the side of her leg. "My mother...she was beautiful. She was black, with a purple mane...others were afraid of her as well. They called her the "Freak Filly". But she loved us all...and now...she's..." Sahdiun chokes again, wiping her eyes. She turns back to you, her eyes still damp. "And you. Have you learned to accept beings for who they are?"

"Yes," you agree and smile at the deep black Pah'llock.

"Good. Then I have suceeded. I have chosen a mate already. His name is Santios. If you visit, he will probably be leaping. But he is involved with his songs right now, he was just here actually. He says that I bring the halah out from their hidings. Once we even heard Sa'nitha singing with us." She bows to the memory of the great mare. "For some reason, we both have the gift of speaking to souls, and most recently, I have been able to read dreams. It is the most strange experince...I think perhaps I may be from the seventh tribe. I don't know any other Pah'llocks who are Dreamspeakers. Or perhaps I am dreaming again." Her face fills with wonder at the thought.

"I must go. I have a song I must complete." She tosses her mane and sets off deeper into the glade.
