Mia: Devotion

Chapter 7

* "What am I supposed to do? I can't tell him," she said quietly.

"You've certainly gotten yourself in a pickle this time."

"You're a great help," she said, exasperated. "What am I supposed to tell him?"

"Well, first off, you don't even know. I'll get Serori to help you with that aspect. Or I teleport with you back to Earth get an abortion. Or, you tell Trunks, and bear Goten's child." Tomma shrugged. "They're all not great choices. Serori has told me how intense heat cycles may be, so I think I can understand..." He looked down on Mia. She looked like a wreck, her normally pulled-back and neat hair falling out of place. He eyes looked tired with worry, and even her hands were quivering. For the first time in the years that Tomma had known her, Mia looked frail.

Serori sauntered over. "Need something Tomma?" she asked, grabbing onto his arm and wrapping her tail around his waist. The two Saiyans shared a deep bond, and one could tell when the other wanted them around. It was the same sort of bond that Mia and Trunks shared, except Serori and Tomma had it much, much deeper than the two young lovers did.

"You're a female, tell Hakuto if she's with child or not," he said gruffly, flicking his tail.

Serori noticed his tail. Something was wrong, because Tomma only flicked his tail when he was extremely uneasy about something. "Alright," she said, and grinned. She crouched in front of the sitting Mia, and saw the fear in the young Saiyan's eyes. Serori didn't understand the worry. She knew that it would be hampering in battle, but Mia was a good fighter, she could adapt. Why the fear, the worry?

She places her smooth hand on Mia's muscular stomach and concentrated. She closed her eyes, searching Mia's thin body for another, much fainter Ki source, another heartbeat, something. Serori rooted around in Mia's Ki signature, and finally, found an anomaly.

"She's with child," Serori confirmed. Mia sighed and rested her head in her hands. Tomma's expression went grim. Serori felt the growing fear and concern from them both. It disturbed her. "Tomma?"

He pulled her to the side and lowered his voice. "Hakuto lost control during her heat cycle and mated with Goten." Serori looked at him with surprised eyes. She understood now. Tomma shook his head and sighed. "We're going to attack tonight as planned. Hakuto needs some time to think about what's happened."

"Trunks isn't going to like this," Serori commented.

"He doesn't know, and I plan on him not knowing until Hakuto feels it's necessary. She won't be able to hide it for long. Another couple of weeks at the most, right?" Tomma replied.

"Right. Poor child," Serori looked back at Hakuto's tired frame.

"Who? Hakuto or the baby?" Tomma asked.

"Both," she answered simply.

"Something's up with her," Trunks commented. "She's been oddly quiet for the past couple of days."

"I've noticed it too. Her Ki doesn't feel right," Gohan agreed.

"She's probably just having a bad day," Goten supplied.

"For three days?"

"It could happen!"

Trunks rolled his eyes at his best friend. Sometimes Goten seemed a little dense. "I don't think so. But I don't want to ask her, because she seems like she has enough on her mind already." Trunks looked down at the grass for a second.

Gohan raised an eyebrow. "Well, what do you think it is?"

"That's the thing! I've thought of everything that could be wrong, but none of it works out! If there was something wrong with Tasha or Vince, I'd feel it too. If something happened to Sekkai, then Serori and Tomma would be reacting as well. And she can't possibly be pregnant, because I ignored all her passes during her heat cycle. It ended...yesterday I think. If some odd Ki force was coming, we'd all feel it, and..."

Goten's throat seized up. Now he knew why Mia looked so worried in the morning. She'd still been in her heat cycle when...

"Oh shit," he whispered to himself.

"Ix'bet!"

The Talisian Warrior turned around to see Ri'ana running his way. He stood up from what he was fiddling with, and waited.

The girl was a head shorter than he was. She looked up, panting, her hair-bells jingling. He saw confusion in her dark blue eyes.

"Aren't you supposed to be in the Genetics Lab? General Ka'ken made the call for all Warriors to be at their battle stations half an hour ago!" she asked in an accusing tone.

"Did he ask you to check up on me?" Ix'bet grinned, amused.

"No, I was on my way from the Communications Tower. They needed some type of wire to make a connection to a ship en route to Refuge. I'm going back to the Armory."

Ix'bet raised an eye. "What were you doing in the Technology Lab when you were supposed to be in the Armory?"

"Hi'tan needed some armor bits to finish something he was working on," she answered.

"Well, to answer your question, yes, I heard the call. I'm just getting something I might need. I think my hunch is correct. Tell everyone that if they face the Offspring, do not terminate her. Inject her with some dilute, then bring her to me. Alright? If they ask why, just say I need her to create some bio-warriors." Ix'bet turned around to walk away.

"What are you really going to do to her?"

"I need to take my revenge," he replied.
