"Just A Dream"
Written by: Bulma Briefs (mail)

Trunks was getting ready for bed. Trunks has lavender hair in a mushroom cut hairstyle with bright blue eyes. It had been a long week. It was Friday night and Trunks had just finished the last of his final exams that day at school. That made Trunks very happy because that meant summer vacation was in two weeks. Trunks and his friend Goten were going to spend the entire summer with their friend Averi in the "United States of America". Trunks was laying on his bed. He was thinking of making a long distance phone call to talk to Averi but he fell into a deep sleep in mid-thought. In his dream he was in a field of all kinds of wild flowers of all colors under a bright blue and sunny sky. He looked at the flowers and noticed that he had never seen flowers like these before. Trunks quickly dismissed the thought when he heard a soft voice say, "Hello."
He looked up to see that owner of the voice was Averi.
"Hello.", he replied.
Trunks was wearing his Capsule Corp jacket, with a black tank top, a pair of baggy jeans, and combat boots. Averi had dark green eyes and goldish brown shoulder length hair. She was wearing a shoulder strap dark green halter top, with faded blue jeans that had holes in the knees, a yellow jacket was tied by the arms around her waist, with black sneakers; her hair was pulled back into a ponytail, plus she had a black eye that was black, blue, with a hint of purple. Trunks looked Averi up and down stopping to stare at her black eye.
"What happened to your eye," he asked pointing to her face.
Averi's hand flew up to rest itself lightly on her black eye, wincing as she did.
"Oh nothing I just tripped and fell flat on my face nothing major.", she laughed lightly as she answered Trunks question. Than the wind picks up a little. At first it's not so bad just a gentle breeze. A saddened look crosses Averi's face.
"I have to go now.", she whispers.
Trunks has a puzzled look on his face. "Why?", he asks.
She is about to answer him when the winds became more violent. So violent that they blew Averi away from Trunks. Terror is all over Averi's face as she is blown away, her mouth open in a silent scream. Trunks ran after Averi but just as he was about to reach her she was blown even farther away. Then everything went pitch black, forcing Trunks to stop running. It was so dark that even his Sayaijin eyesight would not allow him to see his own hand in front of his face. He stood there in the darkness for a few minutes. Those few minutes were like an eternity to Trunks. Then there was a bright light flash of neon green light several feet above his head. He looked up to see who he thought was Averi but soon reasoned with himself that it couldn't be. This girl seemed to be a few inches taller and her hair was mid-back length; plus she had wings, but they weren't bird wings. They were more like a fairie's wings very fragile and very graceful looking. What he noticed next shocked him into wonderment. She had a long tail that looked just like a Sayaijin's tail. Expect instead of the tail being brown. It was pure white with a dark green strip spiraling up it, causing it to look a lot like a green and white candy cane with fur. She was wearing a simple dark green dress. The dress stopped just a little bit above her feet. The collar of the dress was trimmed with a bright yellow and the bottom of the dress was also lined with a bright yellow. Her high heeled shoes were a dark green. Her hair was very curly and a goldish brown color with bright yellow ribbons coming from the top of her hair ending at her shoulders. Her dress was held up by straps and her forehead was the sign of Jupiter which happened to be a fancy looking four like this one 4 and under that sign was a crescent moon turned so it looked like a smile. Her tail hangs low swinging gently. As her eyes opened a deep sadness could be seen in them. Trunks felt a pain in his heart at seeing her sadness. She went to her knees still hovering in the air. Her wings spread out to their full extent, which wasn't very big. She put her hands together and lifted her head towards the sky. It was as if she were praying for something like help or a sign of some kind. After a few minutes she turned her dark green eyes to Trunks. From just looking at her eye's you could tell she was pleading with Trunks for something, but what was it? Trunks just stared at her. He was so lost in her beauty and sadness that he didn't notice when a brightly-lit ki blast went sailing through the great darkness. The blast was headed straight for the girl. By the time Trunks noticed the blast it was to late. It had already gone right through her heart. The girl starts to fall to the ground. Trunks flies up to catch her before she hit the ground. He landed on the ground cradling the unknown girl in his arms. He laid the girl on the ground and kneeled down beside her. Next he checked her pulse, soon finding that the girl was dead. A soft, airy voice comes out of nowhere.
"You let your friend die."
Trunks stays kneeled on the ground looking all around him.
"Who said that?" Trunks demanded.
"I did.", the voice answers.
Trunks says, demanding, "Where are you?"
"I'm over here behind you," the voice answers, sounding more real with every word.
Trunks jumps up turning around and taking a fighting stance. He watches in awe as a misty fog starts to take a human form in front of him. The figure looks a lot like the girl behind him expect she seemed older more like a woman. She was taller and her hair went to her knees. Her dress was still the same but this one had shoulder sleeves that were puffy. On her wrists were several gold bracelets. This woman had the same sign on her forehead. She had the same tail and the same shoes and eyes and nearly the same dress. Her wings weren't fairy wings they were more like the wings of a dove. They were pure white expect for thin strips of dark green that went down her white wings. It looked as if the green had just been paint that had dribbled down her wings. Her sheer beauty had caught Trunks off guard and he slowly fell out of his fighting stance. The woman before him smiled at are young Sayaijin half-breeds stunned look.
"Who are you?", Trunks questioned after he came back to reality.
She spread her wings out on either side of her and pointed a frail looking finger behind Trunks.
"I'm her."
Trunks spared a glance behind him looking to where the woman had pointed. Trunks only saw the girl's dead body lying on a floor of darkness. Trunks then looked back at the woman before him.
"You can't be her. She's dead."
"How true.", she answered. "I am dead and you let me die."
"Why?", she asked as tears started to run down her face. "Why let me your friend die?", she questioned him.
"I don't know you. You're not my friend.", Trunks answered.
"Oh really?", the woman cried. "Look again.", she said as she disappeared.
Trunks slowly turned around and what he saw caused great pain to surge through his heart. As his eye's rested upon the girl at his feet he no longer saw the fairy-winged girl. He saw Averi. He rushed to her side and gathered her up in his arms. He looked down at his friend's lifeless form and the same soft voice returned.
"You could have protected me but you didn't. Why did you let me die?", the voice fades out.
When the lavender haired teen can no longer hear the voice he bursts into tears.

Trunks woke up to find himself on the floor tangled up in a sheet.
"It was just a dream.", he said to himself.
He looks at the clock to find out that it's mid-night.
"I'm gonna call Averi and make sure she's all right.", he thinks to himself.
Next comes the comes the voice of reason.
"It's the middle of the night and it was just a dream.",it said.
Trunks ignores the voice and races down the stairs to the kitchen making a long distance phone call to Averi in America.
"Hello?", Averi's sleep filled voice answers.
"Are you okay?", Trunks quickly responds. Averi says, sounding confused, "Trunks your in Japan and I'm in America and it's three AM over here." Averi continues, "So why are you calling me from Japan at three in the morning?", Averi finished.
Trunks asked again, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?", Averi answers.
Trunks sighs in relief, "That's good just checking."
"Okay thanks for calling Trunks but I gotta go back to sleep. Bye now.", Averi said.
"Oh sure. Sorry I woke you up. Bye.", Trunks responds.
