The Girl Guides of Malaysia trefoil was introduced in January 1962 by Miss Mary Bowers, a Headquarters Training Commissioner. It has since replaced the English trefoil that was used since the Girl Guides movement was officially established in Malaysia in the year 1917.
The trefoil consists of three leaf-like features, a star, and the words Pandu Puteri, meaning Girl Guides in English. The three leaves represent the three components of the Guide Promise whereas the combination of the leaf-like features symbolises the Girl Guides sisterhood in Malaysia. The 14 points of the star depict the unity of the 13 states with the federal territory, and show the importance of togetherness in the Girl Guides regardless of race, religion and culture.
The trefoil is worn on the scarf of all members of the movement.
