My Wife

The United States Citizen

Well, it's official. In January of 2000, my wife finally took the interview for US Citizenship. Working closely with Immigration, as she does, she was well-prepared for the interview and passed with flying colors.

She is still working in the Immigration Building. In fact, as she sat and waited for the interview, amongst all the others preparing to take the test, she received a lot of suspicious glances. She was wearing her security badge and most people assumed she worked FOR immigration: which requires US Citizenship already.

She is awaiting her "Nat", there was a delay in paperwork from Chicago, but the interview is done and the OKAY was given. After 13 years in the US (almost half of her life), she finally did it.

I'm not as thrilled about it as she is, but she's sure it will make things easier and she's excited. She complained to her boss that, when informed she was taking the test, both her husband and her brother asked, "Why?" Oh, well.

Things are good, though. All is well. 1
