Well this first issue was actually pretty good. Especially for all you Rogue fans out there! CC does a lot in the way of explaining what is going on with her right now. But fear not, all the X-Treme Gang get a great moment in this issue even Thunderbird! So on with the show!

There may be some spoilers afoot, matey!

Well I must admit this series seems off to a strong start. CC does a really interesting job in this issue in explaining Rogue's power crisis as well as really giving us an insight into how Rogue is struggling to deal with it. Rogue's character really shines in this issue. He even gives hints that Rogue may possibly have more potential than even she realises. Ironically these are things I would have hoped were to be covered in her own mini, but alas you can't have everything. At least we are finally getting the inner workings of Rogue's mind and how everyday is a constant struggle to maintain her self. Like I said good stuff.

Rogue's nightmares is the catalyst for the team. In interpreting them, some of the team's dynamic/tensions begin to form (and manifest in XXM #5). As beginnings of Bishop's concern that Rogue could perhaps turn evil seem to take root!

Beast is also back for the adventure and he is used very well here. He is definitely an integral part to the story and the reasoning for his presense was sound. In fact, everyone had a good part in this issue. Some really nice Storm and Thunderbird bonding moments as well.

We are even introduced to a new group of species, who have a fear/hate notion of mutants. But they need the X-Treme team's help and lots of dynamic, tensions, and chemistry is set up for the following issues. For those of you who are like "not another Neo," fear not, these guys are pretty facinating. Though there are tensions, they indeed need to trust the X-Treme team. Plus there is dissension in their own ranks which is always fun.

I have to say that I really liked this issue. Yes, it only got a 3.5, but that is cause it wasn't ground breaking or brilliant. And to be honest, though the art is pretty tight and Sharpe does a great job, it is still not on the level of Salva. This felt like a really kewl Saturday morning cartoon. In other words pic it up, you won't be sorry!

Next Up: To a Land Unknown!
