9/4/44 -- Couple Found Dead Local Norm and Mutant Girlfriend Murdered--Details Unclear--No Suspects as of Wednesday The bodies of local private detective Tex Murphy and newsstand owner Chelsea Bando were discovered in an abandoned speeder floating atop the San Francisco Bay last Tuesday evening. "Apparently," quotes Lt. Mac Malden of the SFPD, "the murderer expected the vehicle to sink to the bottom of the bay to hide the evidence. Fortunately for us, speeders float." The police are hopeful that more evidence will lead to the eventual arrest of a suspect. |

9/5/44 -- Autopsy Reveals Cause of Death Gunshot wounds were the determined cause of death of Tex Murphy and Chelsea Bando, the couple found dead floating on the San Francisco Bay, according to the autopsy report released this morning. Bando's wound was in the neck, while Murphy suffered a chest wound. Police still searching for a suspect or a motive, SFPD sources reveal. |

Jake C. "Tex" Murphy Tex, 40, died September 4, 2044, in Old San Francisco. He was a private investigator. Tex was born March 4, 2004, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by his great-aunt Gertie, and is survived by his parents, Christina and Aaron Murphy, and by three brothers and two sisters. Services will be held in Some Funeral Home in San Francisco. |

9/10/44 -- Police Baffled Murder of Local Couple Remains Unsolved "This is a very unique case," Lt. Mac Malden explained in a press release yesterday evening. "[Tex] Murphy had very few connections with the outside world, so it is virtually impossible to tell what his recent activities involved. We have a large list of suspects; Murphy had managed to anger virtually every powerful agency in California. But no way to narrow the list down." |

9/12/44 -- Malden Dismisses Himself from Case Lt. Mac Malden, lead investigator of the Murphy-Bando murder last week, announced yesterday evening his plans to dismiss himself from the case.. "Although I want nothing more than revenge for Murphy's murder, I feel as though I am too personally involved to pursue it further." The lieutenant described all the known fact surrounding the case. The couple had finished their meal at the ... only to dicover their Lotus '38 speeder wouldn't run. Further investigation into the vehicle revealed that the fuel line had been purposely severed. Police speculate that the couple accepted a ride from another driver, whom the SFPD suspect of shooting Murphy and Bando before pushing the vehicle into the San Francisco Bay. No motives are clear and no suspects have been arrested. "Murphy is probably the only one of us who could solve this one," Lt. Malden concluded his speech with, referring to the late private detective's incredible success rate with cases. |

10/4/44 -- Chandler Avenue Murphy-Bando Memorial Fund One month after the untimely deaths of Tex Murphy and Chelsea Bando, neighbors were prompted to organize a memorial fund for the deceased couple. "The money will be used to solve the case. We plan to hire a private detective to figure this all out," Louie Lamintz, owner of the Brew & Stew, explained. "Any extra money will be donated to the Mutant League, an organization supported by both Murph[y] and Chels[ea]." Donations may be made in care of Rook's Pawn Shop on Chandler Avenue. |
