GLOSSARY OF PALMISTRY TERMS
Fate Line:
Dividing the positive and negative halves of the
palm, it determines money, jobs, success, happiness, and
future. Starting near the wrist, it crosses the palm to the
base of the middle finger.
Head Line:
This vital line depicts emotional attitudes,
personal
relationships, personality, success and hapiness.
It starts at the edge of the hand between the thumb and the
forefinger, then extends to the edge of the little finger at
the base.
Health Line:
Starting near the wrist, it crosses the palm to
the base of the little finger. If pronounced, it indicates
health problems. If faint or absent, health indications are
positive.
Heart Line:
This is the line of romance and love. It starts
below the index finger, crosses the palm and ends below the
mount of Mercury.
Life Line:
This is a vital line representing the length
of one's life. Located between the forefinger and the thumb,
it encircles the fleshy base of the thumb, ends at the wrist,
and forms an angle.
Mount of Jupiter: The fleshy bulb at the base of the
forefinger, it is symbolic of ambition, pride,social and
religious feelings.
Mount of Mars: Concerned primarily with the powers of
patience, courage, stamina, and resistance, this little mound
of flesh at the very edge of the palm is bordered by the
heart line near the fingers and the headline near the middle
of the hand.
Mount of Mercury: This is the fleshy pad below the base of
the little finger, affecting commerce, industry, and science.
Mount of the Moon: An area of influence, imagination,
mysticism, romanticism, travel from yourself, and from
others. This is the fleshy pad at the heel of the hand
opposite the Mount of Venus at the base of the thumb.
Mount of Sun (Apollo): A fleshy pad at the base of the third
finger, this one affects fame, humor, and artistic aptitudes.
Mount of Venus: The fleshy bulb at the base of the thumb that
affects love, affection, sensitivity, harmony, and the
appreciation of music.
Mystic Cross: When present, it is located on the fate line
and determines the future of finances, possessions and
vocations.
Sun Line:
This line provides future information reflecting
chances of fame, success, and distinction. It starts near the
wrist, crosses the palm to the base of the third finger.
Unusual Markings:
They include the girdle of Venus, the ring
of Solomon, the mystic cross, the line of intuition, the via
lasciva, the lines of marriage, the line of Mars, and the
three bracelets (or wrist lines.).
