The album that catapulted them into the big time. This recording was a let down, the sound was still under-produced but lost its 'live' sound. Another great party album that even non Poison fans had a copy of.
LOVE ON THE ROCKS - Small and simple - a perfect choice for song #1. Just rythym & Bret and one sound effect on the outro.
NOTHIN' BUT A GOOD TIME - Good old fashioned rock n roll - its got everything - a ( relativley) complex guitar rythym, a blistering solo, even a no ryhthym guitar pre chorus, the chorus vocals are sung /almost screamed. A song for the blue collar workers.
BACK TO THE ROCKIN' HORSE - a song looking back on how simple life was "when nothing really mattered at all". Rik puts a little more into this one.
GOOD LOVE - Brets harm helps give this a bluesy feel. Great lyrics great music - a classic song live or not. Lyrically all about sex.
TEARING DOWN THE WALLS - Absence makes the heart grow fonder & the libido go CRAZY! Sung in a low key at a medium beat, this one just seems to simmer to the end.
LOOK BUT YOU CANT TOUCH - Very fast & very lyrics intensive. Musically theres a great little solo from Rik but not much else to distract you from the lyrics. All about the trials of dating and "wining, dining and fancy talking" and still getting no action.
FALLEN ANGEL - A true story based on one of Brets girlfriends. A great song to release -fast paced, a catchy chorus and did well when released.
EVERY ROSE HAS ITS THORNS - The only song they play on radio ( here anyway ) and possibly my all time fav ( its one song I have never gotten tired of hearing ). Features a 12 string guitar, a background keyboard and the bestest guitar solo! Nothin more to say about it.everyroseunplugged.ra
YOUR MAMA DONT DANCE - A good little toe tapper. This is Poison all over! A great party song - everyone lets loose - even Bobby stands out on this one. Fits the album like a glove. All about dating a girl with very strict parents - something we can all relate to. mamaunplugged.ra
BAD TO BE GOOD - Again Poison do something slightly differnt for their final song - Bret sings ( with reckless abandon ) in an accent, the guitar is long and the first verse, with its eerie music, paints a vivid picture. The song gets better the longer you listen to it.
