The Voice of the Desert

A voice beckons from the desert's depths
A lament upon thorns impaled
Dies frozen by the breath
Of zealous night who nimbly
Enshrouds all in mystery.
Upon the sun-scorched sand
Skeptic eyes waver desolate
Upheaval must rule for life to prevail.

‘Tis the indomitable soul of the barren land
Too harsh for delicate human feet
Yet a bountiful wellspring
For myriads unseen
Soaring the endless heights
Masters of rocky crags
Weaving blazing songs of energy
Furious rumors of wild elements.

Thriving harmony at the heart of chaos
Renders the rebellious thinker speechless
Behold the riddle of eternity
Sphinx’s challenge to wanton kings
Fertile embrace of daylight and darkness
The answer to the raiders of the unknown.

Hear the echo of the atmosphere's tears
Falling upon the blighted soil
Poisoned not for the enduring others
But for the most fragile of all
Who least fathoms yet most vaunts.

In response to the fervent plea
Of a tortured penitent in solitude
Here is light, blinding bright
To kindle a glimmer of hope
Oases bloom in the wastelands
Of the awe the desert has inspired.

Life in all her majesty and glory
Is the legacy of the adventurers
Who persevere beyond ruin
To rise like springtime in the desert.
