How Nice
How nice it is
to have someone
to lean on
someone to take us
home
to cherish us
to worship us
when we most need it
and even when
we do not.
How nice it is
to have a benefactor
someone to foot our bills
face our challenges
accept our
responsibilities
shield us from
the grind
of a wild wild
world.
How nice it is
to have technology
a see-thru wall
between us
and reality
a virtual realm
to run away to
run away from
our neglected garden
knocking at our doors
enraged.
How nice to be able
to deploy an army
fire away wantonly
legislate our rivals
off the planet
purchase off
what is left
of this turf
all by signing
a name
on a dotted line.
How nice it is
to be able to
hurricane
volcano
tsunami
earthquake
all these fleas
off my back.
How nice it is
to be able to
infect
parasitize
immobilize
anesthetize
neurointoxicate
just plain old
gobble
these silly apes
off our case.
How nice it is
to wait and see
eternity
is not that long
for one who lives
but a tiny fraction
of a second
in a cosmic
hourglass.
