Howdy! I'm a grade 13 (OAC) student at Gloucester High School. Born and bred in Ottawa and the surrounding suburbs, I hope someday to move to a metropolis like New York to pursue a musical career, be it in composition, piano, voice, or (maybe) musical theatre. I have been studying music seriously for nearly 12 years now: I've studied piano since I was eight years old, under the tutelage of Mrs. Carol Edgecombe and Ms. Barbara Solis. Thanks to many years of instruction and competition in festivals, I have been able to further my training as both a performer and as an accompanist. In the past few years, I have taken a keen interest in voice and have joined both the Gloucester senior vocal ensemble and the Ottawa Regional Youth Choir as a soprano. Next year, I hope to be accepted at either the University of Ottawa or University of Toronto for piano performance, where I am planning to studying towards a B.Mus. in Composition with a minor in Economics/Business. I aspire to someday follow in the footsteps of one of my idols, Danny Elfman, and eventually compose scores for movies.. Either that or single-handedly bring the popular music industry to its knees (die, Jessica Simpson, DIE!!) I am one of the co-directors for the musical this year, as well as playing the part of the non-descript guitar-playing muleteer. I can tell you, this has been one of the most educating experiences that I have ever had. I first became involved with the musical in the 1999 production of Cabaret, where I was the rehearsal pianist, the assistant vocal director and the piano player in the orchestra. This year has taken me to hell and back, but all in all, I value this experience more than is imaginable. I'd like to end this on an uplifting note: I predict that this will be GHS's most amazing production to date! The cast this year is amazing, talented, enthusiastic and focussed.. well, maybe not focussed.. :-) Thanks to family and friends for your love and support: Mom, Dad, Janek, Nielle, Kari, Calypso Mab, Spanky, Jon-Bob, Burger, Leanne, Ms. Hamilton, Ms. Stinnet, Nigel Farnsworth (!) and my fellow director in the trenches, Evan. |
