Car Tune-Up

After driving your Mini-Z for a while there's bound to be some dust build-up or dirty parts. This applies to all moving parts (ie. Ball diff, servo gears, etc) This may cause poor car performance. So I decided to show you the steps I do to keep the Mini-Z tuned up. Your car may differ from mine, but  basically the steps are about the same.

1. I started by taking my ball diff off. Then I used a paint brush and dusted off the entire car.
1
2. This is the disassembly of the Ball Diff. My diff had some hair particles and dust inside. Remove these first. If you have a bevel gear diff, do the same thing and remove everything including the gears until nothing in intact.
2
3. This is the oil I use to clean the parts. Use this on the ball diff. This oil nicely mosturizes parts and creates less friction. The good thing about this oil is that it evaporates so you don't need to worry about dust going on the grease again.

This oil can also be used to clean and grease the ball bearings. Once the oil dries, the bearings will spin freely and friction-lessly

4. After oil cleaning the ball diff components, assemble the diff back together and put it aside. Remember when cleaning the diff, rub the metel to metal parts well and make sure no fingerprints or dust gets in between while assembling.
4
5. This is the motor mount. Remove all components from the motor mount and use the oil to clean it.
5
6. Then I removed the turbo and motor system. Since my Turbo is stuck on to the ESC cover and soldered on to the motor, I had to remove everything at once. For those who don't have a Turbo or can remove the motor from the turbo, then have the motor seperate. Dust off the motor.
6
7. There is a lot of dust underneath the ESC. Remove the ESC and dust it off and the inside of the chassis.
7
8. ESC........
8
9. Inside the servo box, there's also a lot of dust. Clean the inside of the servo box.
9
10. Seperate the servo gears and clean between the teeth until there's nothing left in between. This will allow smoother servo operation. (BTW, my first servo gear is not broken. It used the fix here )

Remember to also wipe the kingpins with the oil also.
10
11. Here is a picture of all the parts removed. WOW!! That's a lot of parts and pieces for such a small car.
11
12. Then carefully assemble the car back together. Please be careful on installing the ESC. The switch may be a bit tricky. Your car should run like new.
