Let's Talk About Knives, Baby!
This is just a place I've set aside to discuss my thoughts about Knives-sama. I'm warning you that this section MAY CONTAIN SOME SPOILERS!! But then again, almost my entire page contains spoilers...I'm still trying to think of some things to put up here, but for now, here are a few things I just wanted to say:
Joyleaf's Rant
1. In the last episode, we get to see more of the past between the two brothers. At one point, after he is given his gun, Vash shoots Knives in the leg. Knives become very distraut, rambling and whimpering in pain. Now, almost every Trigun web page I have visited credits this to the idea that Knives has a very low tolerance for pain. I, however, have a different idea. I mean, of course it hurt...he was SHOT! But what I think really hurt Knives was not the bullet, rather the fact that Vash shot him! Vash is the only person, aside from himself of course, that he cares about. Knives never expected Vash to shoot him. I believe that Knives loves Vash very much (as a brother you perverts!) and was emotionally scarred by the wound. And what does Vash do after he's shot his brother? He runs away!! Leaving Knives alone with a wounded leg. Forget about the whole "low tolerance for pain" thing. Try concentrating more on Knives' feelings! I think Knives is a bit more of a complex character than people give him credit for.

Graceria's rant!
1. Okay, the first thing I want to point out is the fact that, even though I've found lots of screen caps of Knives-sama, there are hardly any of him from scenes where he was not in 'Crazy Mode'. There are plenty of scenes where he was smiling, relaxed, or quite obviously at ease. I mean, come on! The man is a HOTTIE!! But if you're only exposure to him was through screen caps on the web you might think him ugly! He's, IMHO, one of the most gorgeous male characters in Anime! I've only found one good screen cap from the last episode which shows his hottie-ness in all his glory.
2. Next thing is a little more of a dead out fact than a personal oppinion. I know that the hero of the series is Vash and that Knives is technically the bad guy, but I think that Knives was the one in the right when he killed the spider when they were little. Think about it a minute. There really is no way to save the lives of both the spider and the butterfly. If you let the spider have the butterfly it lives and the butterfly dies, food for the spider. If you save the butterfly than the spider goes hungry and in time, if you keep saving the butterfly the spider will starve. In effect, Knives was actually saving the spider from suffering a lingering death. No matter how you look at it, if you save one the other has to die. Vash was being a touch ridiculous in his insistance that both could be saved.
