Vienna Bars

In a large bowl combine 1 cup lightly salted butter or margarine and 1/2 cup sugar, mix thoroughly. Then add 2 large egg yolks and 2 1/2 cups flour mix thoroughly to make smooth dough. Pat dough evenly into bottom of a greased 12 by 17 inch pan and bake for 15-20 minutes in a preheated 350degree oven until lightly browned. Remove from oven and spread crust with a 10 oz jar of raspberry preserves then sprinkle with 1 cup chocolate chips. In a deep bowl beat the whites of 4 eggs until you have stiff peaks when you pull the beaters out of the eggs. Using a rubber spatula fold in 2 cups of chopped walnuts and 1 cup sugar be careful when doing this or the eggs will fall. Gently spread egg mixture over preserves and chocalate bits. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 25 minutes then remove from the oven and place pan on a wire rack to cool for 15 minutes while still warm cut into 36 bars.
