Rothesay Writings July 2003

It was good to see Noel Sharp back at Lodge this month after his recent fall off scaffold at his daughter’s place.  He looks pretty good considering what he has gone through.  He reckons he still has to finish the job.  Jess will probably have some say in that.

Congratulations to Bill Bailey on his 90th birthday and also to his charming wife Pat who has turned 87.  There is a little bit of goss on these two.  Bill turned up late by a couple of days for their wedding.   It was during the Second World War and Bill was stationed on the Atherton Tablelands with the Army and he couldn’t get a seat on the train on the day he was supposed to leave.  A telegram was sent which Pat did not receive.  She thought she had been stood up.  Anyway Bill arrived a few days later and all was well.  By the way that was 60 years ago.  They are celebrating that anniversary in a few weeks.  So more congratulations are in order.

Bert Crawshaw is renowned for his ritual work.  The biggest mistake he ever makes is leaving out a comma.  However on Installation night in his roll as Junior Warden he announced that the next meeting would be on the fourth Friday.  Just had to put that on record.

Noel Sharp has kindly offered his place for the Christmas breakfast this year.  It will be held on Saturday morning 6 December.  So put that one in your diaries.  There will a raffle with lots of goodies.  Tickets will be sent out to all members.

From UGLQ

Lodges are reminded that the Board of General Purposes some time ago purchased a static display for use by Lodges at Open Nights or at shopping centres throughout the jurisdiction at times of fund raising etc.

Lodges are also reminded that the video "Who are the Freemasons?" is also available for loan from this office and for use either with the static display or separately on Lodge promotional occasions.

Lodges are urged to use these "tools" in their efforts to promote freemasonry within their area.
