NEVER AGAIN THE BURNING TIMES

I know a lot of you have seen these banners on various wiccan pages. I have seen them too, but you will not see one on my page. Why? Well I got this idea from the page "why wiccans suck" I'll get into that later, but I really really agreed with what this peice was saying. None of the "witches" who were burned were actually witches. They probably did not believe in witches and if they had not been burned they would have had the same opinion as everyone else at the time: That witches were heretic devil worshipping scum. The only real witch in Salem was the maid of the two girls claiming to be witches. And she was not even a witch, she was practicing her native religion. (I'm assuming it's vodoun or one of the other religions of her area.) So if you want to honor the women's courage, fine. But don't honor them as witches because they simply weren't.


WHY WICCANS SUCK

Most wiccans I know have seen this page. I've been there countless times. While I agree with several of the points the author makes, the one thing I hate about this page is that it's purpose is to make fun of people. He/she has a right to voice their opinion, but there is a difference between saying an opinion and making fun of someone. This website has a page to make fun of "fluffbunny newbie wiccan's webpages," and basically says that wiccans cannot do magick or we would be taking over the world by now. He/she states that she used to be a wiccan. If he/she was, then they'd know that wiccans believe in the threefold law and try to adhere to the rede. We do not use magick to destroy, but to make subtle changes to help the welfare or ourselves and others. I think that if they want to make a page just to make fun of a religion, they need a better use of their time.


Jesus Fish

I see these all over the place. They often are accompanied by pro-life and WWJD bumper stickers. I applaud christians for openly displaying their religion. So why can't they accept it when wiccans display their religion? A few days ago, I had the misfortune of witnessing a hate crime. No, nobody got killed. But it was a crime nonetheless. My mom and I were in the car, when I saw a car with a "pagan fish" on the back ( it also had some isis, greenman, and other wiccan bumper stickers on it) I was extatic, because I have never seen a car with wiccan stuff on it before. What should I see but a car with a jesus fish (and other christian bumper stickers like WWJD and a cross hanging in the rear-view mirror) come up behind the car and honk loudly at it. Then, to my surprise, something came out of the window. It was a can of soda, which cracked the car's windsheild. I was appauled! My mom said "That is such a shame" and continued driving, not noticing the car pulled over on the road with the guy in the front seat sitting with his head in his hands. If christians can display their religion openly on their cars, why can't wiccans without stuff like this happening?
