AOD to T-5 Tranny Swap Parts List This is a list of parts commonly used to covert a Fox body Ford Mustang 5.0 from a Automatic (AOD) to a T-5 Heavy Duty Manual Transmission. I am adding the price that I paid for each part and any special note I feel may be important. Some parts were purchased new and some were used. If you are not a EBay member I suggest that you become one, or you could just spend some time at your local salvage yard for parts. If you need extra info www.Stangnet.com has a excellent forum section with a good search engine. Tranny : save your self a headache and purchase a new one, unless you personally have been around a used one and know how well it works. Flywheel: purchase new, resurfacing just isnt worth the hassle unless some one just gives it to you. Speedo Gear: Autos and manuals have diffrent speedo gears, look up your rear end gear ratio to figure out the specific on you need. Tranny crossmember: I suggest buying new that way you can adjust it to were you want it before welding it together, and also people seem to be proud of there used ones. If I were to do it again I would just recondition my auto's, and cut off the tack welds and reuse it. Didnt know how similiar they were until I recieved my new one, exactly the same except were the bushing is welded. Upper bellhousing bolts: The auto bolts are a half inch approx. to long so I just used washere to make up the extra length, I would suggest doing that or to just take the old ones down to the hardware store and match a couple that are shorter. The other 4 bellhousing to block bolts are the same and can just be reused from the auto. Rear end gears: Best bang for the buck, completly optional, but since the car is jacked up and exhaust and driveshaft are out of the way, might as well kill two birds with one stone, and dont forget to chance out those axle seals while your at it. Clutch Fork: I recieved my used clutch fork in great shape, but I still have to suggest getting a new one unless you can personally inspect the used one and know of what to look at. Flywheel bolts: I reused my flexplate bolts, but I would recommend purchasing actual flywheel bolts either from Ford or ARP.
