A POEM FOR MICHAEL

The music plays and I know I can't deny
The truth anymore
So we tried to sing along to the songs we loved,
But I just can't sing anymore,
The music fades as we walk away
Write down how you feel
In case you forget someday

There's a spare seat at the bar,
Just another vacant space in my heart.
There's a spare seat at the bar
We'll just find ourselves back at the start.

Don't you know I can still see you
In the way she moves?
It's almost like growing old with you,
They say your light, it will never fade
And the rings around their eyes
will always remain the same.

All the time we've spent
The fun we had,
I know I'll never forget.
And as I live my life I'll never forget
All the things you said to me.

And I hope someday I'll get a chance to tell you
How much you mean to me
