Thomas Driver painting of Saint George's town, viewed from the East, from a part of the Garrison lands (note the two soldiers). Visible on the hill beyond is Fort St. George. Ordnance Island, the artillery ammunition depot, is seen at left, centre, with a half-ring of canons facing the viewer. The beach below the foreground is Convict Bay, once art of the Admiralty property in St. George's (before the relocation to the new Dockyard on Ireland Island). This was also the site of a royal Canadian Naval base, HMCS Somers Isles, during the Second World War, and is currently the location of the Sea Cadet Training Ship TS Admiral Somers.
