Ordnance Island, which fronts opposite the King's Square, in Saint George's town (visible behind). The Saint George's Hotel above is the current location of the Saint George's Club. Out of sight on the hill at left is Fort Saint George's. Ordnance Island was a Royal Artillery munitions store. During the Second World War it was leased to the US Navy, and used as a submarine base ( the old Royal Navy facilities at Convict Bay (out of sight to the right,) were used during WW2 by the Royal Canadian Navy as HMCS Somers Isles.    Only two military buildings survive on Ordnance Island today: the large building at right, and a smaller building, hidden behind it.
