The photos above were published in the Philadelphia Inquirer on NOV 26, 1944. They are shots of Camp Moloney, the first Swiss internment camp for American and British aviators during the war. The camp was located in the isolated mountain resort town of Adelboden, where the aviators could be interned with little chance of escape. Camp Moloney was named after Joe Moloney, a B-17 crewmember who became the first American aviator to die on Swiss soil during the war. Initially most Swiss Internees were held here, but other camps were soon established when Camp Moloney became too crowded.
