Reorganization
of Kradschuetzen in leichte Division before French Campaign.
Although the Heer had planned to convert all the leichte Divisions to
Panzer-Divisions before war, the Polish Campaign did end the short-lived
leichte Division and so did the short-lived motorized reconnaissance regiment.
The 1. leichte Division was converted to 6. Panzer-Division. The Kradschuetzen-Bataillon
6 was still under the 6. Schuetzen-Brigade and there was one motorcycle
reconnaissance company in the Aufklaerung-Abteilung (mot) 57. The 2. leichte
Division was converted to 7. Panzer-Division. The Aufklaerung-Regiment
(mot) 7 was disbanded and the motorcycle reconnaissance battalion became
the Kradschuetzen-Bataillon 7 under the newly formed 7. Schuetzen-Brigade.
The battalion also detached one motorcycle reconnaissance company to the
Aufklaerung-Abteilung (mot) 37. The 3. leichte Division was converted
to 8. Panzer-Division. The motorcycle rifle battalion became the Kradschuetzen-Bataillon
8 under the newly formed 8. Schuetzen-Brigade and there was one motorcycle
reconnaissance company in the Aufklaerung-Abteilung (mot) 59. The 4. leichte
Division was converted to 9. Panzer-Division. They still remained the
Aufklaerung-Regiment (mot) 9 during French Campaign.

The motorcycle rifle battalion was still remained in the motorized rifle
brigade in the first three Panzer-Divisions. The 4. Panzer-Division received
Infanterie-Regiment (mot) 33 and there was one motorcycle rifle company
in each regiment and in the Aufklaerung-Abteilung (mot) 7. The 5. Panzer-Division
still had two motorized rifle regiments under the newly formed 5. Schuetzen-Brigade,
there was one motorcycle rifle company in each motorized rifle battalion
and one motorcycle reconnaissance company in Aufklaerung-Abteilung (mot)
8. The 10. Panzer-Division received Infanterie-Regiment (mot) 69 and 86,
there was one motorcycle rifle company in each regiment and there was
one motorcycle reconnaissance company in the Aufklaerung-Abteilung (mot)
90. There was still no organic motorcycle rifle battalion in 4., 5., and
10. Panzer-Divisions at that time.
The
Kradschuetzen in Infanterie-Division (mot) before French Campaign. There
was no organic motorcycle rifle battalion in motorized infantry division
at that time. The only motorcycle reconnaissance company in the division
belonged to the motorized reconnaissance battalion.

The 11. Schuetzen-Brigade (mot) formed in 1939 had two motorized rifle
regiments. There was one motorcycle rifle company in each regiment. The
Lehr-Regiment 900 (mot) was a conglomeration of all various demonstration
units in the German Army. The regiment had one panzer battalion, one motorized
infantry battalion and one motorized reconnaissance battalion. There was
one motorcycle reconnaissance company in the motorized reconnaissance
battalion. The famous Infanterie-Regiment "GD" (mot) did not
have any motorcycle rifle company at that time.
