The sun began to slowly rise above the building. Ora could not sleep that night, so she sat on the balcony till the morn. Before Ororo and her friend Jean could get up, she decided to make some breakfast. Ororo and Jean woke up to the smell of coffee, scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, toast and OJ. Ora stretched her arms as she finished her shower. "Oh, you’re up. How was your rest?" They helped themselves to the food that was prepared. "We are quite rested, thank you."
Jean sat drinking her coffee. *Storm, now that you know that you have a sister, will you invite her to come live at the mansion?*
*I don’t know if she would want to leave this...palace, or if the professor would allow her to stay.*
*You never know until you ask.*
Storm turned to Ora, who was trying to braid her hair. "Ora" She looked to her. "I have something to ask...for you to consider. Now that I know who you are, and of you abilities. I would like for you to...::sigh:: would you like to come live with us? At the mansion and hone your abilities?"
Ora finished braiding her long whites hair. She looked as if expecting for the question to come. "Ororo Munroe, co-leader of the X-Men, mistress of the Storm, I would be more than delighted to join you at your mansion. I expected you to ask me that, and I stayed up all night mulling over the idea."
"All night? Is this truly something you wish to pressure?"
"Now that I have given my lecture over human/mutant evolution, I have to leave this life or die in it’s shadow. Besides, I would rather learn about my abilities and live a little on the edge."
"Spoken like a true Storm" Jean interjecting with a sly joke.
The morning soon turned to noon. The three arrived at the mansion around 1 o’clock. They were greeted there by Dr. McCoy, Rogue, Gambit and Professor Xavier. They had got word earlier that Ora would be arriving with them. "Greetings and Salutations. Welcome to our most humblest and esteemed housing." Dr. McCoy was very anxious to have Dr. Munroe live with them. But the question remained, would Professor X allow her to live and study there. "I am, as you recall, am Dr. Henry McCoy. You have met Professor Xavier. These are some of my other colleagues, Rogue and Gambit. Please come inside."
She looked very astonished at the size and appearance of the mansion. It was very large and beautiful. "Dr. Munroe, I would like to interview you in my office to consider your admittance to the mansion, and all of its facilities" She nodded in agreement. With a mile she turned to her sister, "Don’t worry, I’ve survived worse. I’m a fighter." She hugged her and left for the interview.
For an hour, Storm paced back and forth frantically thinking, What could have gone wrong. It should not take this long for ran interview. What if she isn’t admitted, what if she decides not to stay? What if--
*Storm, calm down, it’s all right* Jean could hear her thought a mile away, and feel her emotions like they were her own. *She will be okay*
*What if the professor doesn’t admit her?*
*Have you ever know the professor to say no? She will be admitted I kno__*
* Jean, Storm*
*Yes professor*
*Report to my office admediatly*
They rushed to his office to find Ora smiling in a chair.
"My X-Men, it is my pleasure to present to you our newest member, Dr. Ora Munroe, Storm’s young sister."
They congratulated her, and Storm embraced her to the point of almost suffocation. "Uh, Storm...do me a favor. Please return my oxygen supply before I pass out"
"Oh, sorry. I am very happy that you are going to be here with us"
"Now that I am here, you’re going to have to help me with all my stuff, cause I have a lot of stuff to move"
That evening Ora stood on the balcony, watching the sun set. The warm touch of its fingers sat gently upon her body as she thought of what had been and what was to be. A new life had begun and she was unsure of the path which she had chosen. Gently she slipped the dampening device she worn to suppress her abilities off her wrist. The device soon deactivated and Ora felt a surge of power and emotion.
So long I had lived as human as possible. Now it is time to learn about the gifts I so long tried to run from. My life as a norm now dies with the setting sun, but from the ashes shall rise a new life, one that is often full of uncertainties and thrill. This is going to be difficult, but then again, what in life ever is.
In her room she feel asleep fast in her room. This was the first time she had had a good night’s sleep in months. Somehow she felt safe, like a babe in her mother’s bosom. Storm floated quietly up to the window in her room to see her sleep gently and at ease.
Now where will our path take us, dear little sister. Where shall it take us, indeed.
The night’s air gave up no secrete of this day. Only the whistle of spring sat upon the lips of the wind. The path they both had embarked on would leave them with twists and turns...and landings unknown.
