Here's my story on my first cutting experience

Well - I should have known better - I should have waited to wash my fabric - it was done around 2:00 AM - I TRIED to go to bed, but couldn't - I was just laying there thinking about all those greens screaming - CUT ME!!!!!!! CUT ME!!!!!!! You know that you want to - you know that you won't sleep until you do!!!! You had better cut us up or you will never get any sleep!!! It taunted me further in a sing song voice no less ... I was laying there in bed trying to ignore my material's taunts - I just couldn't take it anymore!!!!

quilt Since I already had the templates cut out (I was REALLY tempted Fate there wasn't I (giggle)), I got out of bed and shuffled on over to my kitchen / sewing, cutting, ironing area ... I got out my material and gave a good what for, but didn't go back to bed. I turned on the iron and stood there and thought about it ...

Good Grief Grace - It is 2:30 AM!!!!! You have a baby to get up with in the morning ... ARE YOU NUTS!!!!!!!!!! I was thinking to myself ... Of course I answered myself - I'll never sleep if I don't, I will just lay there thinking abot this fabric and be up until 6:00 AM kicking myself because I didn't cut it earlier when I wasn't afraid of slicing off a finger ... I further told myself, the longer you stand her and argue with yourself, the longer it will take you to do the inevitable ... DRAT!!! All right, all right - I'll cut you up into little pieces ... that'll teach you for not letting me sleep - I could almost imagine it gave me a knowing look that said 'GOTCHA!!!!!!'

I figured out what was going with what. I bought four different greens - I couldn't make up my mind so I bought four (giggle) SO just LOVES me for that one!!! Got the templates pinned down, grabbed the ruler and rotary cutter and away I went ...

About 45 minutes passes - as this is the first time that I have ever cut anything besides clothes patterns for my son with my cutter, I was VERY careful ...

I get them all cut out and my curiousity got the better of me ONCE again .. I started placing them right side up in the pattern that they would be ... GASP!!!! IT WORKED!!!!!! It looks like it should OH MY!!!!!!!!! I was a pretty pleased kitty quilter right then ... then another thought occurred - will it be the right size!?!??!? Minor panic kicks in here ... grab the ruler, knocking all sorts of stuff off the top of my freezer/cutting table and measure up - subtract the seam allowances for each piece and actually came up with 12"!!!!!!!!!

I decided to beat a hasty retreat before I started looking my sewing machine and hearing it taunt me from across the house.

I just had to share that with you -I am so pleased with myself and also kicking myself because I am dog tired and my son is nattering away - won't be sleeping for a while now ... he doesn't scream - just gets really loud and HAPPY!!!!!! It's enough for you to think he would look really good hanging by his toes from the ceiling fan (giggle)
