FTPing is Easy

Setting up CuteFTPfor the PC:

You'll select add site - your host is ftp.yourserver.com, for name - use your member name, and for your password - you use your password. Most providers do not need you to put in your directory - your membername and password will bring you right to your direct. For files, pick autodetect. That's it - you're all set for uploading your files. You can find CuteFTP at Download.com. Pick your platform - Win95, WinNT etc and then you can type in CuteFTP directly into the search box or you can just put in FTP if you want more choices.

Setting up Fetch for the Mac:

Open the bookmark file - you'll find it in your Fetch Folder. Go to the Customize menu and select New Bookmark. Your name is your membername - your host is ftp.yourserver.com, and for your password - you use your password. Most providers do not need you to put in your directory - your membername and password will bring you right to your direct. Mac users MUST use raw data when uploading and image file. That's it - you're all set for uploading your files. Click OK and you are all set to use your shortcut! You can send up mutiple files with the Remote Menu - Select Put Folders and Files ... You'll get a splash screen and you click what files you want to send up - when you are done - click Done. then click OK - and up they go ;). You can find Fetch or Anarchie at Download.com. Pick your platform and then type in either Fetch, Anarchie or FTP in the search box depending on if you want more choices.

I'm not saying that these programs are the best to use .. but they are the ones that I have found I like and was able to pick up with little or no trouble. For the Mac there isn't that much choice and industry standard does appear to be Fetch - it also comes with a lot of built in bookmarks to oodles of FTP sites all over the web for Mac programs ;)
