Caroline was born on 2 April 1976 in Durham. She was the third child of Frank and Jennifer Masters, her elder brothers are Andrew (b.1972) and Christopher (b.1975). At the age of two she moved to Lytham St Annes in Lancashire but returned to live in East Herrington, Sunderland approximately four years later. She attended East Herrington Primary School between the years of 1984 and 1987. From 1987 to 1992 she attended Farringdon School, Sunderland and for the following two years attended Wearside College, Sunderland. In 1997 she graduated from the University of Sheffield with a degree in Architecture after four years of study. She currently lives in Leeds, with her boyfriend, Dougie, working as an Architect for Leeds City Council. Caroline and Dougie got engaged on Christmas Day 2004 in Sheffield.
