The team arrived in MYY with only one thing in mind, to experience what Miri's nightlife could offer. But once they checked in at Mega Hotel, it tells different story altogether. Always in his uncompromising mood, Rosli (Team Manager) did a spot check at 11PM. He called every room and every player's mobile phone to ensure that they were not somewhere near CherryBerry's, Chaplins' or even Fantasi Dangdut's vicinity. No one pick up his calls, all players were already in their dreams by the time he did the spot check.

The next morning, he was beaming with pride. "Kudos to all of you, I did a spot check last night and found out that you guys were in bed. This is not what I have expected initially, but it shows that my players are all dedicated footballers..." However, he did noticed that Mahzan's hand had some kind of irregular markings which looked like an entrance stamp to a night club. Kadir was quick to explain that the mark was a security clearence stamp when Mahzan boarded the MH31 flight at IST. Manstar and Roziman were the other alibis, they told Rosli that they didnt see each other for the rest of the night. This is another evident to show that the team had a very high bonding spirit and teamwork, on and off the pitch.

Since they had good rest on the night before, the players gave sterling performance in their group matches. Razali kept clean sheets in all four games. Day one ended with the team outscored their opponents 10 to nothing. The next day, they were up against tournament favourite AIC Miri FC in the semis. It was a vey physical encounter, with the opponent resorted to rough house tactics to imbalance MAS Veterans free flowing moves. However, MAS Veterans kept their game intact and even managed to claw back and win the match 2-1.

In the final, MAS Veterans drew the first blood via Chong's trademark thunderbolt and led 1-0 at the breather. Unfortunately, two defensive errors prevented MAS Veterans from a famous victory over their younger and fitter opponents. - Mahzan
