I'm pleased to announce that Death on the Cliff Walk, the first novel in my Gilded Age mystery series, has now been rereleased in electronic book format from Hard Shell Word Factory. Long out of print, it is now available as a download, in PRC format, and as a regular book printed upon demand.
Newport is a fascinating city, and researching this book was as enjoyable as writing it. With the lavish "cottages" built in the late 19th century still in existence, with such sources on hand as newspapers of the time, and with the Cliff Walk itself to act as inspiration, how could I go wrong? Nor am I likely to forget the outlandish entertainments hostesses put on in an effort to outdo each other. There was the infamous Dog's Dinner, held to celebrate a dog's birthday; the party at which "Prince Drago", a monkey, was guest of honor (the honoree later decided to perch on a chandelier and throw food at everyone), and the luncheon held by my favorite of the hostesses, Mamie Fish, who refused to come down to greet her guests. |

The remaining books in the series, No Honeymoon for Death and Masterpiece of Murder, are still available from Kensington Books.
Best of all, I'm starting a new mystery series. It's quite a departure for me, as it's the first thing I've done set in contemporary times. The first book is titled Died in the Wool. It will be available from Pocket Books sometime in 2005. Check back at this page for updates, and please do send me email. I love hearing from my readers. For more information, click on the picture of each book. |
