I was wanting to make a mod from my mini 2x2x2 to make it a little more
interesting. I had a few ideas in mind but I decided on an Octagonal
Gem.

As you can see I decided to keep the size down by truncating the
corners. The base cube is 24mm and the target size is a 40mm edge
length. These are the plans for the three parts of each corner
extension.

This is the asymmetric one, drilled, scored and ready to snap. 1.5
mm ABS

The corner of a Harrod's Tea Box with a paper liner makes an ideal
assembly jig. I used super-glue gel at this stage.

Extensions are stuck on with 4-minute epoxy and the corners truncated.
The super-glued edges are now reinforced with epoxy.

The outer cladding pieces are ready to go.

I printed some temporary stickers to test the puzzle. I will be
filling, sanding and spraying the puzzle and applying some proper
stickers.
I will keep a two-colour scheme but maybe not this one.
