* Epilogue *

Home.

Kevin blinked in order to temporarily store the memories in the back of his mind before standing. He was finally home with the woman he adored more than anything in the world.

He slid his leather jacket off his body remembering Ottawa once more. Reaching into the inside left breast pocket, he withdrew a small black velvet box. He slowly flipped the top open with his thumb and stared intently at the contents.

Even in the low light coming from the hallway and the moonlight filtering through the drapes, the small diamond solitaire ring looked like a star against the darkness of the room. Kevin had bought it at an antique shop in Ottawa about two weeks prior to his return.

He glanced at the sleeping Mariah then back to the ring and couldn't help but smile. 'Every prayer has been answered. Every dream I had's come true,' he thought remembering the words to the song by Edwin McCain.

Kevin placed the box back inside his jacket pocket then stripped to his boxers and climbed into bed. Unconsciously, Mariah shifted in her sleep and cuddled next to him. He put his arms around her and pulled her close. 'This is my future.'

Certainly, he had his career. He had his friends. He had his health, his family. But he had never felt truly complete until now. Now he had Mariah. Nothing could make his life more perfect.

Kevin Richardson had all he could ever ask for.

The End.
