General description:
Main roads MR1, 3, 4, 8 and 9 are the most important main roads crossing the country. Other roads with 2-d numbers are generally less important than those with 1-d numbers. When a new MR3 was built linking the country's two major cities, Mbabane and Manzini, the old road was given the number MR103. This is the only such case, but it may be assumed that this rule would be applied more generally, just like the Nx -> R10x rule in South Africa. D roads: no recent information available.
Road signs: no information available
History: Many MR numbers have been changed and new roads have been built. Also, some D roads were upgraded to MR roads. Instead of 'MR', roads were also referred to as 'M' in the past.
