Interview With Hugh Grant (End)

Bob: Is he well known here?
Hugh: He's becoming so. He's done one very
trendy film here called 'Twin Towers' or
something like that. The thing is, he got very
much into character. He's this sort of
nightmare roommate in the film. He's very
dirty and he never washes. I remember
distinctly that being a huge part of his
performance. There's a scene in the film where we're driving
through the streets of London to get to some press conference
that Julia's character is doing, and all I remember is the smell of
his sneakers -- which were unbelievable! They had given him
these sneakers that someone had originally worn in about 1961,
and he was the twentieth actor to wear them! They were
reactivating in the summer heat. That's why in that scene
instead of looking nervous, we all just look sick!
Bob: You've got 'Mickey Blue Eyes,' which you're working on
now.
Hugh: Yes. That's just in the finishing stages. That's the one
about me and the Mafia. It comes out later in the summer.
Bob: Now, are you a Brit in the Mafia?
Hugh: Yes, I'm an Englishman living in New York who falls for
this great girl from Queens. Everything seems fantastic until it
turns out that her father is a prominent mobster and my life
turns to hell! It's all about being very English and getting
involved with the Mob. It's quite exciting!
Bob: It's a true fish out of water story! Are you also going to
work on the next WOODY ALLEN picture?
Hugh: I'm going to do a part in the next Woody Allen picture. I
can't even tell you very much what it's about, because he
doesn't send you the whole script! You just get your pages.
