Interview With Hugh Grant (Continued)

Bob: You're so diplomatic!

Hugh: Well, they're my new friends at least
for the next three days.

Bob: But you went through a very difficult
time in the past with that.

Hugh: Well, there's a scene in the film where
Julia steps outside and there are 500 paparazzi, smash, smash,
smash with their cameras -- and I've been there. I know what
that's like.

Bob: How do you cope with that?

Hugh: Well, I don't remember coping much worse than she does
in the film. She's rather cool. I remember attacking them with
umbrellas and all kinds of un-cool things like that. Actually, I
remember it was my Mom's umbrella and it had a sort of duck's
head on the end. I mean, if you're going to attack someone
with an umbrella, make it a sort of butch one! Don't make it one
with the duck on the end that flies off halfway through and you
have to go pick it up out of the gutter!

Bob: Lets talk about Spike, the roommate. He's quite the scene
stealer!

Hugh: When I read the script, I thought, oh we're in trouble
here. This is a really great part. Well, you'll meet him. He's a
madman, he is Welsh, he is insane!
