Bob: Oh, she's famous for that! That's why I
have to have armed guards during the
interview!
Hugh: You know what you should do? Tweak
them back!
Bob: Thank you very much. I've tried that --
I did prison time! (laughs) When you work with
someone like Julia does it boost your level of intensity?
Hugh: It does boost my level of intensity. There's no getting
away from it, she's an icon. I was scared. I think in the end we
coped all right, though.
Bob: This film is about mega-stardom. Have you had to deal
much with that?
Hugh: Well, I've had my share of the paparazzi, but not
necessarily through mega-stardom! Yes, I know what that's
like. That's obviously one of the very interesting things about
the script, apart from the fact that it's romantic and funny. It
does have a little satirical say about the media and the way
they make people suffer. I think that's one of the nice things
about the film. You come to learn that a character like the one
Julia Roberts plays is a real, living and breathing human being. I
think that's the thing very often forgotten by the media.
Bob: Are the British press as bad as we hear they are?
Hugh: Well, they are enthusiastic!
