Interview With Hugh Grant (Continued)

Bob: I may just go shopping there now. It
seems to be a very "in" place to shop. This is,
I think, some of your best work. I think you
were terrific in this picture.

Hugh: That's damn nice of you!

Bob: Did you feel that way when you were
doing it or as you've seen the screenings?

Hugh: I'm really too cowardly to go to screenings. I did go to
one a few months ago when the film was still very rough, but
even then I was so nervous that I had to go for a drink
beforehand with the block who plays my flatmate in the film,
RHYS [IFANS]. We agreed to have a quick drink beforehand,
and four hours later we stumbled into the screening. I can't
really tell you too much about the film! I hear people like it!

Bob: It's terrific work. JULIA [ROBERTS] must be a delight to
work with.

Hugh: She's a dream -- she just walked in! I saw her car
pull-up outside -- Oh, she's not here -- Oh, she's hell! (laughs)
No, we were all scared. I'm still a bit scared of her! She was
incredibly nice, very silly and kind of easy to mess around with.
Almost too easy to mess around with. I could've used a little
more respect from her!

Bob: With all that silliness, was it difficult to get your job done?

Hugh: Yes, I found it very difficult. She's incredibly relaxed,
much more relaxed than I am. She used to do little things, nice
things. Just before a difficult take, she'd come up and squeeze
grapes right into the side of my neck, or tweak my nipples quite
hard!
