When we told James, or rather when Nicky did, the news didn’t go down too well at all. Not that I blame him for his reaction, my lover has a habit of doing things in excess. Why should his plans for our ‘coming out’ be any different? “WE know you’ve been a couple since time immemorial,” James groaned, lolling his head from side to side, “and there’s nothing we would like more than to come out with it.” “I feel a ‘but’ coming.” “BUT” snapped James feeling incredibly harassed, “in front of royalty is not it Nick.” “Well I think it’s perfect!” the lanky bass player insisted. “You would,” whined James heavily, “you’re a drama Queen!” “Well Richey thinks it’s a good idea.” “Actually,” I said quietly, “you didn’t ask my opinion, you told me what you had planned and then flounced off.” “Flounced off? How can you say that?” “Because it’s what happened.” I held his hands in mine and kissed the tip of his cute button nose. “You are so cute when you flounce!” He blushed a wonderful deep shade of red, his enigmatic blue eyes glinting with happiness. How can anyone not adore Nicky? In my humble opinion he is the most gorgeous creature on the planet. Nicky stared at James. “It’s only minor royalty.” Trust Nick to think that that made it all ok! “I know I don’t think a lot to royalty Nicky but there are some things you have to be sensitive about! Do it before or after but not during.” Nicky huffed and stood with his hands on those glorious hips of his (sorry, I’m getting distracted). “Next you’ll be telling me you’re a royalist. Where has your rebellious streak gone?” “It’s still there,” asserted James. “Please, can’t you recognise that there is a time and a place for this kind of thing? You and Richey coming out as a couple is going to create enough of a commotion as it is. You don’t need the extra flourish of doing it in front of Royalty.” I watched as Nicky huffed and puffed out his chest. He crossed his arms as though highly affronted; I knew that expression and pose all too well. “James is right honey,” I said tenderly stroking his shoulders affectionately. “Those Royals don’t get much publicity and our announcing things will trump anything they can say or do. We will be the ones who take the front pages.” I flashed him a sly wink and he dipped his head coyly. “If you’re sure gorgeous,” he smiled. “I was worried you were getting cold feet.” “About us?” I gasped. “No way.
